Why is this company posting a merchandiser job every other month? I can't believe they have that many turnovers for this merchandising position.

Believe it. The job is a joke. Cheap pay and lots of traveling, not to mention the managers are morons.

Mary I currently work for Kellogg and they are resructuring the DSD business and are currently hiring several individuals. They are removing independent distributors that ran the territories effective Septembe 30 thus creating many company jobs.

Welcome to the world of Kelloggs. Huge turnover as a result of long hours, low pay. As a rule, merchandisers quit and many get fired since it's diffuicult to keep an eye on them to insure that they are doing their work. Many take advantage of it and bill the company for hours they never worked.

REGARDING THE COMPANY CAR - DO THEY LET YOU USE IT ON YOUR DAYS OFF, AND IF THEY DO ALLOW THE USE DO THEY CHARGE YOU? MY LAST JOB HAD A COMPANY CAR AND CHARGED 13 CENTS A MILE IF YOU USED IT ON YOUR OWN TIME. ALSO IT LOOKS LIKE THEY PAY 36,000 A YEAR, IS THERE ANY BONUS ON TOP OF THAT? THANK YOU.

The guaranteed salary is very low for the position of Territory Manager, starting at only $14,000 per year, plus 2% commission and possible bonus potential. The hours they advertise (40-45 per week) is way off! If you are going to be a Territory Manager with Kellogg's you will work 7 days a week and a minimum of 60-70 hours, with some days being 12-16 hour days! When you break down the salary and hours you put in, you do the math. Part time merchandisers will only work approximately 1 hour per every $1,000 the Territory Manager sells. So if the Territory Manager sells $30,000, the Part Time Merchandiser will work up to 30 hours that week. Some weeks are less, some are more. Working for Kellogg's is not a bad job, but I believe their pay is very low for the amount of work and hours you put in. Their competitor, Nabisco (Kraft) Territory Managers start out at $36,000 per year guaranteed salary, no commission, but they do get bonuses. That is a huge difference between companies that do the same thing for the same positions!

In regards to the company car, yes, you can use the car for personal use, but you are charged up to $150 per month for personal use and you can not use company gas to use it for personal use. You are also taxed heavily in the end too, so be careful. Try to keep your personal mileage about 6% of your business mileage to avoid heavy taxation at the end of the year!
