It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Kellogg? Any advice on striking the right note? |

The interview was very enjoyable and pretty casual. Just be sure you have a positive attitude and alot of experience in sales and merchandising. |

Not much experience is needed to reset or cut-in pop-tarts and/or cereal. Its some of the easiest work I have done. You may interview with Steve Busch, nice guy, he tends to hire 18-21 year old males. Good Luck |

It doesn't matter what your qualifications are, what it all boils down to is if they like YOU or not. Kellogg is a very cliquey company. I've personally witnessed people who have worked in positions for 2 or 3 years as a contractor and then apply for the job, only to be told they don't have "enough experience." WHAT???? |

I have just applied for a part time Merchandiser position for Kelloggs. Does anyone know what I might get paid or what (if any) benefits I will be getting? Please reply. Thank you! |

Whatever you do, when you go to an interview, do not tell them anything about you. Just answer the questions very short. Do not tell them anything that you have done to really be success. My take is that some of the managers are not really professional and cannot pick out "Great Talent". This company spent many phone interviews with me, then spent over $2000.00 to fly me about 400 miles, put me up in a nice hotel, have me do a full CPG presentation at my expense (color and binded with powerpoint about my 12 yrs CPG experience) and spent a total of one hour with me on the second day in the afternoon and had less than 1 1/2 hours to get to the airport to fly back. Before I left, I asked for business cards to contact them and they did not even have them to give. I went home thinking that wow all this I should have an opportunity. Waited two weeks and got this crazy generated email that says "Thank You". These managers would not respond back and no one seems to have an answer at their "Right Thing" call in. It is not the best people that they choose with skills, experience, and what is on your resume. It must be how they can get some "Lame Duck" to do the job and its funny how after all that, the position in about 2 months later gets posted. During the time, I came back and applied for a few more jobs just to see, the same thing happend with no information passed on. They then sent me to drive the next time about 300 miles and paid the expense and tried the same thing to contact them and they just never call back or follow up. It really is a waste of time unless you are like a stock boy in a grocery store that knows the manager and he might give you a chance at it. They wave the car thing in your face and all the offerings and talk up a great game plan but when you try to find out as to other areas or opens you are basically chalked off the list. I even had a number of Grocery Store Managers recommend me with letters and verbal and the managers did say this was |

Cont....The worst company to work for in this business. Most of them said their service was aweful compared to other DSD companies and said they never had the product they needed to fill the shelves and had many items out. I guess the reason they have many openings is because everyone follows behind someone sorry and the store manager tries to get the things done as well as the service and it seems like an endless battle of excuses from Kelloggs to Grocery Stores and the people that work for them eventally just say. Its not worth this headache and car. Just take a look at all the positions that keep getting posted and seems as though they dont choose the right people to grow and maintain these territories and business |

I just had an interview yesterday morning with a TM from Kellogg's. I thought the way he had set up my interview was excellent. We met at a Super WalMart that he ran in his region (because 1: it's his second biggest store, he wanted to show me around. and 2: there is a Subway in there we could sit down at). He started off by shaking my hand, and then asking if we could walk around the store so he could show me all of the products I'd be handling. After about 20 minutes of walking around the store, we sat down at the Subway and he asked me why I'd like to work for Kellogg's and what I had for experience. After explaining why I'd work for them, he started telling me about the benefits if I became a full time merchandiser; including the company car, cell phone, awesome 401K etc... It ended positively and I received a call back this morning from him offering me the job. I'll be starting later this week. And just so you guys know, it took about a week to hear back from a TM after applying. |

Well, considering the fact that the openings advertised from this company is virtually year round...ads from Kellogg's job openings never seem to go away, or magically re-appear within a short period of time...it's usually a bad sign; it either means 1) the company/mgmt. can't hold on to their employees, 2) they have a knack for picking duds to hire, which is just as bad because it means they'd likely pass over the more ideal candidates (just the way a "cliquey" company would operate, the douchey practice of caring more about how you "make them feel" than judging you on what you can do for them). So IMHO, I'd take Captain Kangaroo at his word on this one. Thanks for the heads up, CK. |
