ALSO CPR AND FIRST AID CERTIFIED!I PAYED $10050.00 TO ATTEND A PRIVATE INSTITUTION IN RALEIGH N.C.I HAVE BEEN LOOKING, SEARCHING, APPLYING FOR JOBS SINCE JANUARY 2007. NO ONE WILL HIRE ME OR GIVE ME A CHANCE TO APPLY MY PHLEBOTOMY SKILLS! I HAVE TO START FROM SOMEWHERE. EVERY JOB REQUIRES THAT I HAVE 1 YEAR EXSPERIENCE! CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME HOW CAN I GET EXPERIECE IF NO ONE WILL GIVE ME A CHANCE? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP I JUST WANT TO BE A PHLEBOTOMIST WORKING ANY SHIFT PART TIME OR FULL! IT BOTHERS ME THAT I'M TRYING TO GET IN THE HEALTHCARE FIELD FINISHED AND COMPLETED PHLEBOTOMY AND CAN'T GET A JOB I'M SCARED TO TAKE SOMETHING ELSE BECAUSE OF THIS THAT HAS HAPPEN TO ME! CAN ANY ONE RELATE OR HELP?

I feel your pain. I think you should try a temp agency. They could possibly get a temp job for you to get some experience.

If you look over all the other phlebotomists forums on this site you will see that you are not alone and don't have to think that there is something wrong with you. I thought it was just ME because I have been certified for 3 years and I never found anything in this area. What I didn't know but what these schools DO know is that is can be a game of chance,that some of the students they are training will find a job easily and others will struggle. What they need to do is start having job placement as part of the program that will help the students to find something once the training ends. A good word from an established institution,such as a community college,can go a long way for a good student. It isn't fair that a lot will get a job based on their looks and personality even if they had poor grades and a bad technique in the training,but many will (at least in my class they did).
You need to say what all have you tried. A temp agency is a good idea. Blood banks,paramedical examiner companies,volunteering (in other words,extending your clinicals)-have you tried all these? Are you submitting resumes online or leaving them with HR people,and talking with them? Don't leave the applying to the Internet (one of my mistakes) and always do follow up calls,repeatedly. Stay in contact with classmates,especially the ones who found work. Don't pass up trying to get into places that "say" they want experience because a lot of them have hired just anyone in the past. DON'T give up.

We were sold a bill of goods that if we only TRIED and went to school and paid our taxes and lived a clean, good life, we could expect a decent opportunity.

I'm having one heck of a time finding work as a Phlebotomy Technician. I've applied everywhere, now its just a waiting game but I get very discourage. I would appreciate any help or words of encouragement. Thanks and good luck to you all.

I hear you!! I worked for LabCorp for 3 years, and our department was closed. I was told I was marked for rehire, but all I get is rejection e-mails, saying they have decided to go with someone that is better suited for the position. Crazy thing is, the type of work I am applying for is the same type of work I did for 3 years, but I'm not qualified.

Labcorp won't give me the time of day either. P.S. That resume has been checked, rechecked, reworked, rechecked, reviewed and is still being rejected everywhere.
