Automotive to Aerospace

I would greatly appreciate any advice on getting in the door at LMC especially in Orlando. I have a quality management background in the automotive industry. I have put in for multiple positions. After 4 months got a call from a LMC recruiter clarifying info on my resume and informing me I may be getting a phone interview. I then completed the online pre-screen but learned a week later they were pursuing another candidate. So close to getting the process started.
For experienced professionals in quality engineering/mgmt does a non-aerospace background hinder my opportunities?
