Normally research work requires a Phd (Doctorate) in Engineering, Math or one of the Sciences.

what kind of research can you do with a phD in physics? Can you do stuff like model missiles using CFD?

You don't need a phD for stuff like cfd. You can train any joe-schmo with a b.a. to run cfd (not that we don't have phd's who do it- but their job isn't research).

You can do stuff like research left handed transparent materials, morphing structures, etc.

I am looking for a job at Lockheed Martin also. I have an accounting/financial background and an MBA. I would like to relocate to Kennedy Space center or somewhere in Florida to be close to family but would consider different locations. I currently am serving as Interim Vice President of a Logistics Co. and need new challenges. I think after research Lockheed is my place. Please advise!

Just submit your application like everyone else! That's the first step to getting started, unless you've already managed to network inside the company. You might want to download my e-book, "How to Get Hired By Lockheed Martin," available at Lulu.com, for some more insight into how LM's hiring process works.

Good luck!

Joel,
I work for LM at CCAFS in Florida and I can tell ya, there are no jobs here, or (especially) across the river at KSC. With the current and future defense budget cuts, most of us are nervously hanging on waiting for the bad news. We've all heard the doom and gloom in previous years, and not seen much come of it, but this time it's real. Positions are already being cut for FY12 and 13; FY14 and 15 will be even worse and we all know it. No hiring now or in the forseeable future, only cuts.

Hi, I am interested in Lockheed Martin in Grand Prairie or Fort Worth Texas. I almost had a job lined up until I was told that they did not want me because I was "overqualified." I am looking for an analyst position, any one know of a way for this to happen? I am trying to make contacts since I know a few people who work there but they are not in the departments that is needing people.

Hello, I am looking for a analyst position at Grand Prairie or Fort Worth Texas locations. I was passed over for a position because they didn't want to hire me due to the fact that I had a masters degree. If someone can please help that would be great. I have always wanted to work at Lockheed and really just want to prove that I am a great hire.

I have applied to everything I can at these locations.

please email meekashmasters@yahoo.com

An associates position is, indeed, an entry level bachelors position.

Did you interview for it, or just apply? Either way, to be frank, they probably just didn't like you that much and gave your friends an easy excuse - we'll regularly interview people with masters for associate positions, and if we like them, we'll just go ahead and hire them in at a higher level...

I am trying to get on at LM. I know it is usually easiest to get on by working as a temp. Does anyone know which staffing agencies (besides Aerotek) LM uses in the DFW area? My background is in HR, and I worked a short temp assignment for DynCorp and enjoyed it. Any help is appreciated: LenaSmoot@gmail.com

Getting Hired in Simpsonville, South Carolina

I had never heard of Lockheed Martin until a couple months ago I received a recruiting invitation from them in my Southern New Hampshire University email. I have joined their talent network, but have not officially been hired as of yet. I have applied to two different Human Relations department positions and am still waiting for the next step.

In the meantime I have a bachelors in criminal justice and a bachelors in forensic psychology what positions might I be suitable for when looking for career opportunities at Lockheed Martin?

Also as I am moving into my masters programs in 2017 what sort of degrees would strengthen and increase my value to Lockheed Martin?

joanofarc in Honolulu, Hawaii said: Why the insistence on Lockheed Martin ? Are you sure you want to get into Lockheed Martin when there are so many better employers

The company management for the most part, is unscrupulous, as they only want to over charge the government . The Defense Contracting Management Agency (DCMA or DCAA now) knows this and was pretty hostile, breathing down our neck all the time! You can work overtime and not get paid, and the company gets 75% of what they bill the government for your labor . The day I reported onboard, they laid-off 2000+ folks, and when I started working, all that the people working there are thinking how to survive and retire! After about 5 years of mind numbing paper shuffle type of work (on behalf of the government, through Lockheed), I had to quit because I just couldn't take it anymore.

If you don't have scruple and don't mind losing your sanity and wants to be the lap dog for the sinister management, then yes, get a job with Lockheed Martin. Otherwise, stay 100yd away from that company!

I did make a nice return on my Lockheed company matched stock option after I left; but if you go in now, they have even taken away retirement pension for new employees (so they can be more 'competitive and flexible). Hell, even Boeing , just as bad, hasn't taken the pension plan for its employees and they have better company matching stocks too!

Don't go defense contractor, just go straight federal like I did. It is so much better and so much more fun!

Shame on you! Looks to me like you're a bitter former employee who wasn't a team player. God forbid you do PAPERWORK!! You must have been a low person on the totem pole. It's such a bad look for you to debase a company who obviously paid you a good salary and pension. Working for the government isn't for everyone, and quite frankly, it shouldn't be.

Have you contacted your college's career placement center to ask these questions. Most of the time, companies that offer internships go through local and area colleges to post the details.

Good luck! Disregard the person who poo poo'd on LM. It's a good company.

LM is an Aerospace and defense manufacturer, largest defense contractor in the world.

Your CJ degree may not be a good fit.
