I have an interview at Macys on this upcoming Tuesday, but I have been reading some comments about there being a group interview. Why on earth would they think group interviews are better than personal? I thought I was special and hand selected, guess not, but I still will go. But can someone tell me how many people usually are in the group with you and what type of questions do they ask. This makes me nervous since I don't want to interview for the world, I have been unemployed for a year and not the best at it, now this??? Jeeze, but thanks

As previous Macy's HR personnel-main office (NO LONGER....... hohoho hahah hehehe, free at last!!), yes, they (we) will not let you know that there will be a group interview until you are there or in some case they store HR person will let you know, it depends on the individual.

HR tries to "get" you (the best candidates) by making you feel special as if you will have a one-on-one interview, but in reality it cost Macy's more money to pay the store HR people to have a one-on one. So it is best for Macy's to dump a bunch of candidates into a room and let them go at it, in other words, you are NOT value a worthy employee because you are just hourly. Only salary and office personnels are have one-on-one, also managers, etc, but NOT hourly.

They view hourly workers as being at the bottom/cheap labor. In group interviews, the HR person(s) looks for people who will out done/beat the other candidates, however/whichever way they do it. It is not so much about experience as it's about can you be tough, sell the product, and "lie" to the customers about how great they look or "celebrate" their purchases - being fake. In the end, please people, don't kill your self over Macy's, look else where or take the job and look for something better.
