Merchandise Associate, Dressing the part?

Hello all,

I'm a recent hire at Macy's as a Merch Support Associate. Dress code says Do's are khakis/denim, polo/sports shirts, and athletic shoes. Dressier clothing is sometimes an option.

If anyone out there that has worked at Macy's could put in their 2 cents....I'd like to know if jeans, a non polo top, and close toed heels would look out of place while working with my team.

In general do most merch assoc. ladies, dress up rather than stick to the khakis, polos, and tennis shoes?
