Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at MACYS? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at MACYS? |

you wear solid black clothing. you may wear colored jewelry and shoes. you must wear professional-like clothing. most people are in their 50's+ and then college aged. some people get together outside of work, but not for happy hour or anything. some people are friendly and other people are not. it varies. |

what an awful place to work. the black in our clothing has seeped into the hearts of the management. there is no support. look elsewhere for employment. |

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. All of the sales associates are under constant pressure to sign customers up for Macy's cards (a card with a 23% interest rate, mind you). The hours are horrible, the pay is insulting, and you have to wear all black every-single day. My schedule gets changed so often that I cannot make plans to doing anything that's beyond three-days from today. In fact, my department (women's shoes) is so bad that one person quits every single month (and these are some of the few associates in the store that earn commission!)And the previous blogger was correct; the co-workers are either 18-22 or 45-65. I wouldn't recommend this job to anybody. |

I worked there as a temporary employee during the holidays in the By Appointment (personal shopping) department. Not at all what I expected. Instead of appointment selling to clients, I was expected to bulldoze my way into any department that looked busy and ring all sales under my supervisor's number. Everyone in the store (except the temporary people) are on commission, so they were all resentful of this. I never learned where anyhing was, so I was not able to help customers properly, and felt like an idiot. Instead of computer training for 2 days, I would have been better off being trained on the floor. I would not recommend working for this company. |
