What's the company culture at Macy's West?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Macy's West?

I work at Macy's in San Jose, CA. Heres what i have to say. People dress in a more professional way. You arent allowed to wear demin unless u specalize in denim. The managers can careless about there employees, they only care about opening credits. If you are sick and need to go home, and they are having a bad day with credits, they wont let you go home. They dont pay anybody the same, and when emergancys happen with customers or something, they do everything in their power to keep 911 from being called. all they care about its there stupid reputation. If anyone out there is in San Jose and is looking to apply at Oakridge, DONT. The whole Macys West copperation is messed up. so dont.

you sound like you are talking about corp. not retail.. you prob. should contact someone from SF. corp. and the stores prob. dress differently, less "have an outstanding day" recorded message..

The typical day for most sales people includes hard work fighting for sales goals, solving problems, putting away clothes, etc. The typical day for sales managers includes sitting their asses off at endless meetings, then walking the floors with volumes of useless papers, and then hiding in some place like smoking rooms from their own employees. Sometimes managers conduct classes where they train people with 30 years of sales experience on how to identify and greet customers (the only thing most of them know). Life is wonderful!

I like Macy's but sometimes, sales girl seem to have bad attitudes. Maybe their boss driving them too hard? Riding and riding them until they can't take it any more.
