Congratulations Captain Obvious!! I am not a CEO of a successful company. I have been involved in average companies with just as much need for communication improvements as the next company.
"85% of managers of 402 firms surveyed nationwide said that most of their employees need to improve their writing skills, up from 65 % the previous year. But only 21% of the firms offered training in writing skills.
(So again, congratulations Captain Obvious!!)
While a survey of 200 corporate vice presidents reported they spend the equivalent of nearly three months a year writing correspondence and reports."
That's all I was trying to point out, that a CEO should write a little better. But please point out my mistakes so that I may learn from El Capitan. Please do. And don't get up and ask someone to help you out either.

Someone either in the thread or another thread hit the nail on the head: ME gets their lights private labeled just as Wal-Mart or any other retailer. They may have a different standard than Wal-Mart, but they have produce nothing. They have developed nothing. The engineering department is staffed by people who help the sales force figure out which bulb fits the situation. When I worked there it was like peeking behind the curtain on the wizard.

I have always been an advocate of Maintenance Engineering. I found this blog by searching for our companies presents on the web. It didn’t take long to see the unprofessional provoking accusations from Maintenance Engineering management staff to anyone that didn’t have perfect praise for their program. I believe I started with a comment that Maintenance Engineering is a respectable company and I defended them. On one or more occasions there was an accusation that they charged an upfront fee for training. I didn’t think that was true but apparently I was wrong; however in one of my latest posts I agreed that it’s probably a lagitamate approach due to the overhead generated from a multitude of soft and hard costs derived from good training program. I think I have been very professional through this whole experience. However, because of our domineering growth and low margins we have received unwarranted and unprovoked attacks from Maintenance Engineering, not only on this forum but in street. I am wondering if you have not misconstrued the intent of my comments and or mistakenly read their comments thinking they came from me?

It's not that ME has misconstrued your intent. It's simply that they are upset because they don't know how to respond. There are to many truths to so many complaints. Ryan Chase is probably ME management.

wrong- Ryan Chase would be the name that upper ME Management is using to discredit Kim P. Light on Truth your posts are kind of annoying. Of course no one can answer those questions. CK is just greedy. That is why he himself has created so many of these problems and I'm sure he has some more great ideas that will only add to the problems. Yes Kim I have read the posts and Yes ME is self destructing. It is a Sad fact.

You can tell how feeble minded someone is when they try to pick a fight with someone for no reason and for such small reasons. (I know, some of you ignorant people are gonna say, well you sure are trashing ME for no reason. ME has placed plenty of poison on innocent people who they sold on an illusion of a good company.)

Shed us some light....and tell us all your real name!

Good company?..... Try great company! Turn over in any direct sales company is usually high. I've worked with a few over my sales career until I found the one I liked most, M.E.

It's not for everyone and no one has ever suggested it was. If it is, great...if not, no problem, carry on and find one that is...just don't keep trashing the one that didn't work for you!

Mike if this is so great why don't you earn all your bonuses and why do others that sell less than you earn all of their 10% bonuses?
Light on Truth, again your posts are annoying, repeating the same question is just dumb.

Latest M.E. hiring campaign is titled: Own your own business with Maintenance Engineering. How is this owning your own business when:
1. You have to sign a non-compete clause saying that all customers belong to the company. You can not solicit those customers about lighting needs after you leave the company.
2. You have to maintain a certain level of production other wise the home office starts calling those customers. If you quit, all future commissions that should have gone to you are void.
The only way I see it as going into business for yourself is that you are responsible for all expenses. Am I wrong?
(I'm just asking questions... I'm not being nasty)

Dude...you are relentless! Do you have a life outside of Indeed? I pay taxes and have all the right-off benefits of running my own home based business selling M.E. lighting products. Anyone who runs their own business has the potential for profit and for loss. They also follow the same tax laws associated with earning 1099 income.

Why would I want to solicit my customers with lighting products other than Maintenance Engineering's? If I was going to leave I would do something else. The only time the home office starts calling customers is when a rep goes inactive. If the rep leaves and isn't going to take care of the customer than the company has to protect that customer.

I've never had a problem being paid my commissions. What M.E. said they do they have done, everything has been upfront and clear from the start. I didn't make the rules and if I had a problem with them I wouldn't have made a commitment to selling the world's greatest lighting products, period. The guarantees and the product quality are #1. Who else out there guarantees a lamp for 10 years?

Anyone wanting more info on the M.E. opportunity, please contact me at mebulbs@comcast.net

Rhonda Byrne says it best....

Good is underneath every single thing that appears to be negative. If we can know that good is all there is, including in a negative situation, then we will see a negative situation transform into all good. Most people keep the good away from themselves because they label something as bad, and then, of course, that becomes their reality. But there is no bad in the Universe; it is just our inability to see things clearly from the bigger perspective.

Ha Ha. Mike you're funny. I'll say I do have a life outside of indeed but the evidence is not there. So no, I don't have a life outside indeed. Alright alright. I'll leave you guys alone. Cheers. You seem like a good man. I've never heard of Rhonda Byrne but love the quote.
ME, it's been fun. I guess I'll go find myself a life now.

I've done a lot of business on my own, and any company that asks for money upfront without at giving you Jobber {warehouser} price for parts and materials, plus FREE eduction isn't worth listening too.

Dupont, Haliburton, GE, Sylvania, GM, NAPA, you go ahead and name it. What is it? I've worked with these companies. They never charged me a dime for training, always give sales people discounts {instead of large commissions} and aren't listed in the pages I've given you as scams.

Please remove all adds for employment from Superior Lighting and Maintenance Engineering.

Here's what I have gathered from both sides or all sides of the issue(s).
Companies like these, charge fees for becoming an independent contractor for a couple of reasons.
They want to see a commitment.
The fee covers the cost of some of the material(paperwork/printing).
The fee covers some of the cost of trainers time and travel.
Realistically, they don't make much off of the fees.
Now, the hard truth!
They don't want to prey on innocent or disparate job seekers.
They do want committed, hard working, trainable salespeople(ownership focused).
HOWEVER, THEY WILL TAKE ANYONES MONEY... WITHOUT PREJUDICE.
They will use you for a lead generator, whether you work out or not.
The training sales people will get the commissions from your first couple of sales.
They sell a legitimate product, even if it is high priced.
They really don't care about you. You are forgotten the minute you don't produce.
There are successful independent contractors out there.
You could be one, it won't be easy!
Good luck with what ever you do.
Don’t stress over the details of this opportunity. It is either for you or it isn’t.
Pray about it, ask for God’s wisdom in making your decision.

Seems like a decent company that's been around for a long time and sells quality products, from what I've been able to find. A friend of mine (brother-in-law, actually) was looking for a sales job and saw their ad, and asked me to check it out. I saw this thread and thought I should reply.
I have been involved in sales for 30+ years, working jobs that ranged from selling ag chemicals, meat sales, tool sales, and diagnotis equipment . I've worked both direct commission jobs, and jobs that pay a base salary but also require a base sales level quota. Direct sales full-commission jobs like these usually aren't easy, but few sales jobs are.
Remember, you can make a heckuva lot more money in full-commission direct sales than base-salary plus commissions jobs...you grow your own business, plus you can set your own hours...any my brother-in-law wants a flexible work schedule with him being a parent with young kids in activities. I've seen plenty of companies charge an upfront fee...these guys may seem a little high, but an upfront fee of $300-$500 is not that unusual. They just don't want to commit to training someone that really doesn't want to work hard, so they charge a fee.
Anyway, I told my brother-in-law it is worth a look...he's tired of turning wrenches for a living.

Why? Because you would most likely hear negative things, about lack of support, money nowhere near what they promised...etc.

I have been in sales and now sales management for the last 13 years, and I can tell you what I admire most about a company like Maintenance Engineering is they know their target market and know how to hook em'. They understand that the lowest common denominator out there is the proverbial "sales guy" who most likely was just fired from a previous sales job, and is full of pee and vinegar. Exactly the type of individual that will respond to a challenge like this and is willing to spend his own money to prove his old boss wrong. This is really good stuff.
