You can work at the mall too. Sbarros, Rainbow, Mandee, etc. You'll make a little less than you will at Massage Envy but you won't get carpal tunnel doing the job. Good luck!! :)

I will tell you my experience.
I had a interview, it went great. The work is easy, the women said she could even do it if she had a license. She even complained about her 2 last esthetician. Because I get the feeling she only picked who she liked, not based off who can do the job. Which left her to pick very lazy people. It's not a hard job, but you can sense there is a lot of drama.

The women in the front where nice, but in that fake kinda of way, if you know what I mean. I would not say don't apply there, Because am pretty sure ever Massage envy is not the same.

Am pretty sure I did not get the job, since she posted more than once this week. Which I don't get since the job is so easy, and it's just commission. But oh well. I hope it works out for you.

I recently interviewed w/Massage Envy as an Esthetician. I wanted to reply because this forum was helpful to me. My advice is don't believe everything you read :) Go see for yourself. I was excited about the opportunity, but once I read all the (negative) info about the co on the forums I almost declined the interview. I didn't receive an offer (not enough experience) but I'm glad I went to see what it was like for myself.

-Front desk staff was very nice & professional
-Interview went as expected. She asked me general questions (my career goals, etc) & gave me an overview of the culture & what they expect (punctuality, professionalism, etc.
-Practical is required. You must do a facial including massage
-Salary was $12 per facial, plus tips & any commission from your retail sales (I think 10%?)
-You're expected to be there your entire scheduled shift, even if you don't have appts. If that's the case you are paid minimum wage for the hrs you're there
-They require you to have your own liability insurance. I had never heard of that but was told all of their Massage Therapists & Estheticians have too & that it's approximately $200/yr (purchased from a company they refer you too & you pay for it)
-Entire interview took about 2 hrs.

About a week after the interview I received a call saying that they didn't want to extend an offer (they wanted someone with more experience) but I really appreciated the follow up. That way I wasn't left wondering. She urged me to reapply after getting more experience & left a number if I had additional questions. Overall a very good interview experience.

I worked as an esthetician for a Massage Envy Spa for a year and half. Sometimes I made very good money, and sometimes I spent entire days waiting around for appointments. At my location there was no hourly pay; it was COMMISSION ONLY plus little $1 bonuses here and there. Sometimes it equaled out to making about $3/hr. Towards the end I began to feel very pressured to push the hard sell on my clients throughout the entire treatment, and I did not agree with that. We make our money from repeat business, not the pathetic 10% commission on product sales. I advise that it's best to have another source of income if you plan to work here, because it can be very difficult when you constantly yo-yo between $500 checks and $1500 checks (and that's working 36-42 hours per week). If I had the choice to do it over again, I probably would've chosen a different place to work. This might be ok for inexperienced estheticians right out of school to get your feet wet in the industry, but it isn't fulfilling or profitable employment for skilled veterans.
