missy in Columbia, Maryland said: has anyone ever gotten a response from a Medco posting no,you have to know someone with alot of pull to even get an interview, not the best place to work and not worth the bother. |

I will no longer respond to Medco ads. I have the right credentials/background for many of the posted jobs but, for some reason only known to HR, I am not considered a candidate. |

I was qualified for several jobs so I sent my resume and posted it on their web-site. I work in the pharmaceutical industry and met most of their criteria, but no phone calls/ I don't bother with them anymore, the company isn't worth it. |

They appear to have a high turnover in Pittsburgh - they have ads (same ad/same description) every two weeks....I have overqualified for the job and haven't received a call....when companies had loads of ads there is something very wrong. |

Don't send in too many resumes or you won't get
How absurd. I guess someone there doesn't like tenacity. |

I knew people who worked there many years ago and hated it. I'd like to know if things have improved. Any feedback? |

Call back after a few days via head hunter. Interviewed with several people. Was surprised by how laid back the atmosphere was. Good salary and tons of benefits. Definitely worthwhile. |

Definitely worthwhile. I, too, replied to a job posting via a recruiter and was asked to interview with the manager of the department. Based upon what I saw and what my friends, who are employed on a permanent basis all say, "STAY AWAY!" The job is not what it seems, the hours are EXTREMELY long and if you like working some of the holidays you are used to getting off, then perhaps this is the right company for you. I also think that a company that keeps posting the same jobs either month-after-month, week-after-week - something is definitely wrong with said company. My suggestion would be to look elsewhere. |

Have worked at various levels (Rep to Lead Rep.) and found environment very unfriendly, super micro-managed and a very very poor HR department. Not the worst call center in the area but far from the best.Just watch the number of times they have to advertise for new reps . |

I would appreciate any additional info on this company in this location--good or bad |

The Franklin Lakes office is the corporate headquaters. Medco is a Perscription Ben Mgr. and is the 2nd largest Comany in NJ after J&J. Last year they had $47B in revenues. Almost 1/3rd of the US population has their perscription benefit managed by Medco. It's fairly competitive to get a position at this location. What is your background? What position title? |

Applied for a position and about a month later they called. They have toll numbers to reach the HR people. Very unprofessional! I interviewed, was over qualified but the hiring manager did exactly what I was going to do (take a step backward to get in the door and move up which she has) and never received a thanks but no thanks letter, email nothing even though I followed up with the hiring manager twice. Once again unprofessional. They post the same position weekly so, don't waste your time! |

The position is for Senior / Inventory Accountant. A headhunter submitted my resume about 5 days ago. I haven't heard back yet. What is the "quality of work" life there ? Do they have a gym and cafeteria ? I'm currently employed, so I'm careful about where I would like to work. I work in NYC and would prefer a shorter commute. Thank you both for your comments. I do think it's unprofessional to have toll-free numbers. If I get called to interview, fine. If not, I'll move on. |

Judes: Since you were successful at getting an interview, what's your secret? Did you know someone? Were you overqualified for the position? Underqualified? Just right? |

I have no secret. I was over qualified and went on the inerview. I really enjoyed the interview with the IT guys that I would be working with. I had a telephone conference call with the two women. The one asked one question and when I told her it was not my strong point she point blank said "well you are of no use to me" The other told me the job was mundane and repetitive and was I really sure that I wanted a job like that. They were catty and I hated the interview. Worse when I left it was a down pour with no umbrella and I had to walk about 500 yards to my car.
Good luck to all that interview and I have no hard feelings against the company. Judes |

This is terrible. At first I thought it could be the area, but you all are from all around the country with the same problems.

Good cafetria, good variety. Gym, daycare, walking trails and sports fields on the campus. Couple thousand people work at the location and despite a hierarchy of mgt, good level of support w/in department as everyone takes a vested interest. The company was ranked as most admired Health Care company in the nation by Forbes. Expect occasional long hours or heavy work load, but also flexibility. Large % have opportunity to work at home pt or ft. |

I recently interviewed for a position in the Dallas area for the customer call center. I have been trying to get my foot in the door for this company since 2000. I have known many people who have been here and NONE of them have ever had anything bad to say about the branch here. The interview was in three parts..first there was a group interview where a group of us went into a room and answered a few questions as a whole..then they asked the ones who passed to come back for a simulated call-in..the final step came the same day as the simulated call if you passed and that was the solo interview with a HR mngr. I was IMMEDIATELY hired and asked to take a drug test as well as ran thru an extensive background check. That took about 2 weeks to get back. I know that Medco is ran under a union, therefor you are only allowed to work 4 hours over your shift so you choose. They start you out at $13($14 bi-lingual) for customer service here. The atmosphere seemed really relaxed and the employees seemed to be very nice. I find that you only get mixed up in catty gossip if you allow yourself to be. You will find this with any job. I personally am VERY excited to be joining this team and wish everyone else who is trying luck also. PS. I am over qualified for the position that I am doing, but the growth potential at the company is unlimited; and NO I did not know someone on the inside..I did this all by myself! =0) GOOD LUCK!! |
