After seeing at least eight job advertisements, I applied for a certified Phlebotomy position and received a call the same day to schedule an interview. I was told that assignments were immediately available and they needed certified Phlebotomists ASAP. When I got there, expecting to interview, I was placed in a room with 3 other people and we were all handed a folder of papers & tests to complete. 3 hrs later, each of us was handed a drug testing form with directions to the medical center and told that the only other thing we needed was a annual physical and a recruiter will call when something becomes available. That was that. The same old game........ |

HaHA! don't you just love headhunters and these fly by night companies they try to staff. Next time just apply to a facility or hospital and avoid third party headhunters. |

Hi, I am from Maine and roughly 12-15 yrs. ago I was literally one of the FIRST Maine-based medical staffing companies around. Before I resigned and moved on, I had 250 employees, Drs., nurses, CNAs, Lab, PT/OT and on and on. I offered full benefits, 401k, and although I did drug tests and a pre-employment physical, I was 100% clear whether or not I had right-that-minute full or part time employment. This company is lining themselves up to fill some positions and they can't except the job unless they have stand-by employees. Problem is for them, they lose their chances unless they are exclusive, which is very rare. Meanwhile, they get your hopes up only to have them dashed. My advice: If you don't want to take a direct job, which a lot don't because the money is much, much better with temp. staffing, insist you get a minimum of a three-month contract, full time if you wish, with the company/hospital they are trying to fill. If they can't do that, shop another staffing company and 80% of the time they'll shop you and get you the position....at least that is what I used to do and I was number one for the entire State of Maine and had offices in five different locations all over the State. I hope this helped and I apologize if it is too long, but I want to help. |

From reading your comment, it sounds as though you ran an awesome staffing agency. Unfortunately, from my personal experience, I find it almost impossible to request anything with the staffing agencies other than my interest in a job. I relocated to this area after researching that RTP was one of the best places to live in NC. Hey....maybe I should reconsider and move to Maine..... Congrats for reaching #1 status..... |

Suggestion to all is if you want to work for a staffing organization--DON"T pick them, there's far better ones out there that treat you like you are royalty, instead of another number. They should be concerned about their reputation, it isn't good. |
