Average salaries vary alot depending of field. They try to be in the 66th percentile of the industry.

Benefits are awsome! No co-pays on visits, meds, and great plan with Premera.

Overall great place to work (though this depends on the group you belong to).

Best possible medical benefits.
Employee Stock Purchase plan.
Salary is tricky. If they like you, they will pay you
what you would get paid if you go somewhere else.
If your previous salary is not great then do not expect
a giant leap. This is true with other employers as well.

The pay and benefits package at microsoft is above average in the industry. People with kids and families will definitely appreciate it. However, it only applies to the fulltime employees, while a lot of people are hired as temps, and they don't enjoy the same benefits.
