Stay away from the DOE office in L'Enfant Plaza. The culture in that office is horrendous. Unless you are a toady/sycophant/b()tt kisser, you will get backstabbed by somebody--regardless of the hard work you do--b/c all the higher-ups (mostly women) expect excessive flattery. This is the case with the director and deputy director of NNSA, the client, as well as with the Miratek PM there (a 30-year old b*tch). At least two Miratek employees have voluntarily quit their jobs over the past two years as a result of the culture. There is a complete lack of respect that is prevalent in that office. As an example, one employee was publicly humiliated (in front of visiting personnel from various organizations--as well as the entire NNSA office) when his background was referred to as "coming off of the streets" by the NNSA director, Tracy Mustin, in a 30+ person meeting. The Deputy Director of NNSA had to call a meeting to go over the importance of keeping "harsh" words verbal and out of emails in order to avoid scrutiny of the group--thus essentially sanctioning this type of an attitude, as long as it was done informally. The office is an ethics time bomb waiting to explode, given the right incident.
