Do you work at Motorola? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

I applied to Horsham PA site for many jobs I was qualified for and never got a nibble. I think you need inside contacts.

This site was a business Motorola acquired within the last 5-10 years.

Best advice would be to apply in China or India because that is all they are looking for.

You can try their outside job board which has gone from over 700 worldwide postings to just over 200 postings within the last month. Severe downsizing and budget freezes in place until who knows when?

I applied to dozens of jobs at Horsham, PA. Was brought in for one, spent a day interviewing, was hired. I did not have any "help" from internal contacts; I was just a good fit for what one Director wanted.

Then, there was a reorg, did not work with most of the people I interviewed with, and was let go. I never reported to the guy who hired me; my actual Director had a different. I never fit it and was regularly reminded of it.

Horsham and San Diego are still working through the acquisition of General Instruments. I think that was part of the reason I was fired.

Getting into Motorola is like getting a job with the C.I.A. If you are diversity candidate then forget about it!

I thought we weren't supposed to be judged or separated by race?

How long did you work at the Horsham site before the axe?

First, make pals with a VP, pucker up and learn to do the MOTO smooch. Once in, trash everyone else's work so you look good during RPA time when someone has no chair each year when the music stops. Forget about weekends or work/life balance, don't forget to keep puckering, and you just might make it to your second anniversary.

Sorry, the whole CIA comment is way off base. Want to work at MOT? Be Indian, Chinese, or Korean. Basically any kind of Asian. That's the only way.
