Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at National City?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at National City?

At National City Mortgage the dress is very casual. Sometimes way too casual. I have seen people in sweats, and fuzzy slippers. Mind you this is at the Mortgage Center where it's processing docs, mortgage payments and doing the behing the scenes type stuff, so it's not like they are dressed like that in front of customers.

The environment of the department I am in is generally one of great stress. For example, over the last year or so, we have been told that our volume of loans has gone up 70%. We have been told this in at least 5 different meetings, however, inspite of this increase in volume they have not hired any additional workers. Keep in mind that 70% more loans means 70% more faxes, 70% more phone calls, 70% more voice mails, 70% more e-mails, 70% more problems. On top of that an entire deparment of post closers was eliminated and their jobs shifted to the processors, as well as various other jobs from other positions eliminated or consolidated throughout the department. Because of this, customer service is at an all time low. Customers are constantly screaming at whoever is brave enough (or has time to) answer the phone. The faxes and voice mails pile up while supervisors yawn and go to their meetings with upper management and report everything is *fine* because they want to look good. In the meantime they yell at you about not returing all your 100 calls, inspite of having 200 files to process, 75 emails, and 120 faxes. Most people work at least an hour of overtime a day, but that still doesn't come close to being enough time to finish all the work. Upper management NEVER comes out of their offices. My bosses boss breezes through the department once a week maybe besides trips to the bathroom. Her boss has NEVER ever even been inside our building. People are generally very stressed out from having way more work then they can handle and that amount increases daily, as do the pressures from upper management to work harder and from the customers.

I happen to still be a decade long customer at the very branch that is advertising for a new manager.
The former manager was a very efficient effective customer service dedicated person that produced exception customer service above and beyond the call of duty for the past ten years. With the undignified firing of a quality professional, I am currently moving all of the accounts and closing up all business with them.
Their 'interim' manager has brought a change of cultural environment in which the remaining ees are visibly uncomfortable.
I brought other business accounts to that branch, a large personal cash deposit and other customers.
I am disappointed with NCB Haslett.

I work for National City Mortgage and can only say that the processing team in Miamisburg leaves a great deal to be desired. They take more time off than any other team I have ever worked with especially at month end. They are not very knowledgeable about product.
