I see all these posts from people who hated/hate Nielsen. There have to be people out there who love working there, right? Who provides the insurance and is it really 600 a month? |

United Healthcare. Costs about $500 a month for a family. All the prescriptions have to be mailed in. Co-pays are very HIGH!!!! The company stinks to work for and they are very "unstable" right now. |

I have another comment... all the physical skills and software skills you learn at Nielsen will not transfer over to other companies! Train for 6 wks in FL and then year and half in field and then you get fired and you have nothing LOL |

I just don't understand. I looked at the literature on the copays and my current employer and Nielsen have the same copay-25 for doctor, 35 for specialist. I don't know if you came from a spectacular job before, but a LOT of companies are not even offering insurance at ALL. If it was so bad there, why did you work there for 11 or 12 years whatever it was. I just hate to see someone come here who is just upset with an employer and make comments to deter others. I don't think this is that kind of place.

I recently found this site and was absolutely amazed at the things I was reading. Most of the "war stories" that I am reading are stemming from disgruntled employees or individuals who could not pass the training. I have been an employee with Nielsen longer than any other job I held in my life and trust me, I have had many. Here are my thoughts of the job related to the field. **Let's start: Nielsen looks for technical people - you don't need one but ok. Next, you MUST have knowledge of how to connect a "viewing site" in your home. If you have no idea how to connect a coax cable from the wall into the TV or to run a DVD player to the TV using AV cables - THIS JOB IS NOT FOR YOU!!!!!!! **After passing the pyschology test (even the lowest of lows can pass this), you're required to complete 6/8 weeks in training. Prior to going, you should be supervised 1 week to see what we do. Usually, this is not completed properly. **The training of older equipment; not used but is installed and may need maintaining. Your manager decides what you are being sent down for. ***Once in training - believe it or not - the instructors are there to help you. I thought they were really mean, basic training, but having teaching experience, I knew this was about gaining control of the class. They have 6 wks to teach you the basics; not enough time. Hearing the "we covered that 4 times already" or "look it up"; well you need to use resources; how will you do it on your own? If I really had problems, they did help me. The process is not that hard if you are willing to dedicate your time and effort. When I graduated, I was promoted within a year. Yes, I put in OT to make it work, but after, I was working less than 40 hrs some wks. The first 6 mnths are really hard, but in the end, it is worth it. My advice, go self scheduling, it is sooo much better and you will have a life. Hope this helps |

Although it may depend on the area, the insurance for my husband is wonderful. Great coverage, the "high" coverage offers 90% payment after only a 250(or was it 500) deductible. SO MANY companies are not even offering insurance anymore! Unless you are an employee that has already been told that you're an exempt employee (which means you will not get overtime and are salaried) you get time and a half for your overtime hours above 40! You might have to work, but you do get compensated! I have not found one thing that the people complaining on this site have said to be true, and I was kinda worried! Husband loves working for Nielsen. There are so many benefits that you cannot imagine and everyone has been so kind and treated him with respect even though he is new. |
