If you're reading this, you've most likely already received a phone interview and have scheduled a time to go and take a required assessment test. This meeting is not an interview, though you are able to introduce yourself to who will most likely be your manager. He or she will give an hour long power-point presentation introducing the company. Once the introduction is finished, you will receive your assessment test.

The test is timed and will last up to 30 minutes. The test consists of four very short sections. The test is called the Watson-Glaser II Critical Thinking Appraisal and is made by Pearson. Here is a link to the Pearson website that describes in detail the test's function in pre-employment assessment: www.talentlens.com/en/watson/index.php. The test is centered around a critical thinking model called RED, which stands for: Recognize Assumptions, Evaluate Arguments, and Draw Conclusions. The assessment allows for them to (1) measure thinking, reasoning, and intelligence, and (2) predict an individual's judgment, problem solving, and creativity. The results classify an individual as having low, average, or high critical thinking ability. They say that the test questions are designed to separate those who "bright" and those who are "exceptional."

Overall, the test really is not that difficult. The best thing to do, as with any test, is to relax and just do your best as there really is no good way to prepare for this assessment. Chances are that if you are reading this, you are obviously searching for tips and helps to pass this test and are the type of individual who will likely do well anyway. The best advice I can give you is to read the instructions to each section carefully as it will help you to make better choices in determining the answer. You must also keep in mind that though there might seem to be multiple correct answers to a question, they are looking for the "best possible answer." So read carefully, think critically, and good luck!!!
