OK, has this happened to anyone else?? I started my application process at least six months ago. I did the phone interview thing then the face to face interview but was not hired on the spot. I actually got a phone call on April 23rd, six weeks later, and was told I was selected and offered the position as flight attendant. However, the last training class was april 29th and already full. I am one of 62 people waiting for the merger before they re-start the training class. My offer of employment is frozen until the merge. OMG!!! I got hired but did not???? Is anyone else in the same boat? I have researched some stuff and it looks like nothing will happen for a while. The offer is valid for one year. Does anyone have any more information on the freeze or when there will be any new training class scheduled?

Be patient. It will come eventually. The airline industry is very dynamic and things can change in a heartbeat. I'm confident you'll make it into a class. Remember though, you're not actually "hired" until you graduate training. So just remain positive, and work very hard in training once you're there! Don't let it slip away!

FYI, I was invited to the April 29th class just 3 weeks before the class, a few days after my f2f interview in SEA. I was so happy and so excited! I immediately moved out of my house, sold most furniture, and stored just the essentials. I wanted to be 100% mobile, ready to go, and focused on studying the pre-training materials I expected to receive the next week. Sure, the background check still had to be completed...but, I've never been arrested and never done drugs, so what did I have to worry about? I even spent hours upon hours creating my own airport code flash cards because I couldn't wait to begin learning everything! My lifelong dream was coming true. The career I always wanted, but had set aside while I raised my son. Now the stage was set and it was my time, and I was going to live my dream finally! I know I can make much more money, but it's not about the paycheck anymore. It's about getting up every day and genuinely loving what I do for a living...for the first time in my life. That's what dreams are made of; that's what happiness really is made of.

Unfortunately, I never received my pre-training materials. My attempts to contact the only NWA person whose contact information I had, went unanswered, and I didn't want to be a pest, so I really tried to be patient. I was completely in the dark as to what was going on...until it was too late to possibly do anything about it. Apparently, someone questioned my integrity and they decided to not take me. By the time I figured out what had happened and why, I was completely shattered. I'm still getting over it. Everytime I see a redtail in the sky, I get teary eyed again. (Cont'd)

I'm a very strong person, but I have to admit this experience was heartbreaking. I'm not sure what stung most...being passed over, or the sting of having my integrity questioned after I have lived my entire life as a very moral person. I truly and sincerely do not lie. Yet, apparently someone thought I did. That was as hard to take as losing the dream. You see, when asked about previous traffic violations in the past 10 years, I could honestly only remember one since I haven't had any in over five years. However, I added another one just to be safe, so said "1 or 2" on my application. It turns out I had 3. The report I personally picked up at DMV shows these 3 violations (nothing major). However, the DMV report that the background company provided to NWA listed 5 items. Even though only 3 of those 5 items were traffic violations (2 items were simply DMV administrative notations), it seems that whomever reviewed my file possibly did not take the time to read the 5 items and realize there were actually only 3 violations. Bottom line...I finally received something in the mail that stated my integrity had been questioned because I had 5 violations and only stated 1 or 2 on my application. First of all, they were in error, as only 3 violations were shown. Secondly and foremostly, I am a very honest individual. No one that knows me would ever challenge that. I even once lost a very good friend because I would not lie for her. So, ce'st la vie, I suppose. It's just ironic, that a person of high moral fiber got "fired" for lack of integrity. So, this is why I'm still feeling the pain. That stung immensely. And, I'm happy to get it off my chest. Thank you for allowing me this release.

Moral, please do not count on anything until it actually transpires. You never know in this industry what will happen. And, if all your background stuff is done and you've been told you're in the next class, believe it. I'm sure you will be. I will live vicariously, again, through all of you
