Because most airline flight attendants basically live on the aircraft and only have an apartment in the cities they regularly fly to and from. Even then they just lay over for the night or a couple days at most. Flight attendants on international routes have a home on this side of the Atlantic and another one in Europe or Asia. Airlines expect that a person applying for such a job is not wanting to be rooted in one place and are interested in seeing faraway places. It isn't your average 9 to 5 job by any means. |

Because the many San Diegans are well educated and they the airlines think they will draw in the locals. Also, because San Diego is a nice place to live, although very expensive, they think they will get people who someday would like to live in San Diego if they start somewhere else. |

Flight Attendant Bases: In the United States: Boston, Detroit, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York Kennedy/La Guardia, San Francisco and Seattle/Tacoma. International locations include Bangkok, Thailand; Hong Kong; Manila, Philippines; Osaka, Japan; Beijing; Singapore; Taipei, Taiwan; Tokyo San Diego isn't even an attendant base so you would have to start by moving to one of the above cities. You didn't really think they would be flying you back to San Diego every night in time for supper did you? |

That last line was funny. No kidding. Another point is that when you apply for an airline you need to learn about the company way before you go to the interview so you would have or should have known that the company did not have a base in San Diego. That is, if you did your homework. This process should be done with any interview not just airlines. You should never show up without having researched the company as much as possible. |

Casey, not to start yet another spelling police battle here but you need to take a hard look at yourself there. Look: fligth = flight (that's a typo as the letters "h" and "t" are right next to each other and just transposed. It is different from a misspelled word.) tak eyour = take your (that again is a common typo. Space and "e" are transposed) they rell = (typo. She hit the "r" instead of the "t" right next to it.) I have been a writer for many years and I make similar mistakes. I play ragtime piano and my fingers are used to syncopating the notes. This also sometimes causes transposition of characters typed just as Nicole has done. Typographical errors are not a mark of pathetic grammar and spelling but just a factor of sloppy typing at worst. Assuming a person's resume will be as badly typed as their simple message in an internet forum is about as ridiculous as thinking someone wears the same thing to church as they wear to bed. Don't be stupid, Casey. And for the record, Casey, your message to Nicole has more errors in it than she had. You don't have spelling errors but your syntax is horrible and your basic sentence structure is deplorable. You do not have a single sentence that is a correctly structured sentence. You, Casey, seem to have no clear idea of how to use punctuation. I suggest you take a bit of a refresher in that area yourself. One does not put a space between the word and the comma or the period - for example. More than three periods in a sequence and you are basically drawing rather than writing. One never writes more than one comma at a time... never. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! |

Your message was posted on a public forum and is therefore fair game for anyone to comment on as to its veracity. If you want to get right down to it, what business is it of yours to correct someone's spelling or make a comment on how or what they write? If you allow yourself to do it, then I shall allow myself to do that as well - as may anyone else who reads what you wrote. |

Casey, you need to get a grip on yourself, and start going to your shrink more often. |

I see many postings on this website that are laced with insults , poor manners and a very poor attitude so I am not surprised when some person is brought down a notch or two on their decorum. It seems some folks are just not mature enough to handle communicating in an environment of reasonably intelligent adults. Heaven forbid someone is subjected to a bit of constructive criticism. Ever notice how it is the ones who dish out the abuse that are generally the ones who can't take it without telling people to mind their own business like the forum belonged to only them? |

Right, Casey. He's the loser, not you, sweetie. Never you. What's the matter, hun? You not quite as "tall" as those other Texans out there, babe? Is that how you pick up girls by browbeating them on their spelling? |
