Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Office Max?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Office Max?

Stores are typical for any business environment, clean business casual. Distribution centers are more casual, but they still have standards. Also, don't bother going to work for distribution centers. You get to work in a hot, humid environment, with machenery that keeps breaking down. You're told you'll work 6-8 hours then they keep you for 12-15...with only a 30 minute lunch break. Supervisors aren't any better off than the employees, so it's not their fault. It's a really bad company policy/mentality. Maybe other states are better, but Nevada is a right-to-work state so company doesn't have to be fair to employees. If you don't like working for them, then leave. Really, they don't want to know how to make their business better. Some guy in a suit that's never been out of his office is making decisions that affect the lives of the employees and their poor attitute about their job translates to how they deal with each other and ultimately to customers. Really, really bad environment. Better than, "do you want fries with that?", but not by much. At least McDonald's shows respect to their employees and supervisors!
