For the record, I think Officeteam is fantastic. Especially the Davenport office. They are all friendly and helpful and extremely professional. I cannot understand what you all are talking about. |

From what I read, a lot of these people are looking for temp agencies to find them specific permanent positions, aren't very flexible, and get mad when it doesn't work out. For me, I only see temp agencies like this: 1) A place to go and make a few clams while you continue to search for your specific job. 2) A place to go and make a few clams when your current situation prevents taking a permanent position. 3) A place to go when you would like to expand your areas of expertise starting at the bottom when no one else will look at you. 4) A place to go when you are new to an area and are in immediate need of any work period. I wouldn't hold my breath expecting a temp agency to find me a perm position. If they did, great, but otherwise, it is still mostly on me to keep looking for what I want. I haven't really had a problem with Office Team over the years and I am currently working an assignment they sent me out on. Eh, what can I say? |

For the same reason that a manufacturing company builds to inventory. An agency wants to be able to supply a client with a person the very next day when asked and they can't do that if they don't have someone with the proper skills on tap. It is not so much that such jobs don't exist, it is more the case of the job once existed and may very well exist in the next few days. You kinda have to be aware of this fact when applying to an agency. Unless their ad specifically states "50 openings to start work on Monday" or something similar, there is always the chance the job may not be immediate. |

I think it is more because they are lazy than anything else. If you search for jobs directly through their site, there will be a message written that the jobs are often filled within 24 hours, but to try anyway. If a job has been posted for over a week, odds are good that they were just too lazy to remove it, not that it hasn't been filled or was fake. Not to say that they are above resume fishing, I don't believe that at all, but there is probably also an answer that doesn't involve tin foil hats. The way I view it is that I am not applying for that job specifically, rather just that kind of work. I just apply for temp jobs at random spamdom. I can't honestly remember if I was ever given a posted job, I just know I at least got similar assignments. |

The fake ads are "come ons" to accumlate resumes and at the end of the day --- their database is filled with potential applicants to fill the temporary positions. In other words, you are the bait that is feeding the sharks. |
