office team is horrible

Their staff here in jacksonville sucks! They never return calls when you have situations at the job they gave you. I'm glad I'm done with them

The Philadelphia staff isn't any better. I went in and registered with the branch office and, after getting no calls for jobs, I finally got a hold of my rep 6 months down the line and was told the company did an "assessment" of my file and that they couldn't place me. The main office in CA had no idea what they were talking about.

I've seen the folks who go through Officeteam and they're definitely not the brightest bulbs on the circuit.

WHY are they around, then, when they refuse to place people?

Damn Straight!!!!!! I intervied with them 5 MONTHS AGO, I just got a call back stating they were getting ready to finilize my paperwork by "CONTACTING MY REFERENCES" WFT!!! No wonder America is going down hill, all the Retards are in Coporate chairs...

True, Leigh! I'm trying to keep the faith, but I guess I'm stuck in a time-warp thinking of how good temp agencies used to be years ago.

Before all you had to do was call, they would schedule an appointment, you came in for their round of forms and tests, and you'd be working within a week.

Nowadays, you fax in your resume and you're told within 5 seconds of looking at it that "nothing's available" or, better yet, you're completely ignored.

These temp agencies are a joke! (And I agree with what many people keep saying: I don't think these jobs exist.)

Wow! They are terrible! I went for a job interview to become a part of their staff as a staffing specialist. Can you believe that I was interviewed by 5 different people and was there for about three hours! I got all their cards and e-mailed each and every one of them thanking them for meeting with me. They didn't even take the time to reach out to me or even reply to my e-mail.
Every e-mail I've ever sent throughout the years would always get a response back. But no not them! And because they took so long interviewing me I ended up paying my babysitter extra!

That's crazy. 3 hrs, 5 people? You did the right thing by e-mailing and thanking them, etc... This is a crazy world, ain't it? Something will show :)

What I "love" about temp agencies is how they lecture us about what to wear and what to say in an interview when those people are the ones who need the lecture and the reality-check.

I agree with what I've been seeing so much of: If those people were on the receiving end of being tested, interviewed, and assessed for hours on end only to come up with no job (not even a response!) or a job that's totally wrong, they would think twice before being so ignorant.

Then again ... maybe not!

These people lend truth to the adage that "It's not what you know, it's who you know."

I'm glad to hear that, Leigh! After reading that thread on Monster, as well as another one about temp agencies in general on the same site, in addition to the comments here, I was getting really discouraged that finding a job today is nearly impossible.

I know there are jobs to be had that ignorant temp agencies haven't gotten their dirty paws on, but to actually see someone have success on their own is encouraging indeed!

It is ridiculous..I registered with them when I was living in PA, moved back to CA and went to the branch office out here. 3 months later no calls, no interviews..They f****** suck!!!Just warning all of you do not waste you precious time!!

I had nothing but an incredible experience with OfficeTeam. They placed me in 3 days and I worked at 3 different companies until I accepted a job with my current employer. they even gave me the option to work for them again if I decided to move to another city. Maybe its not them. Now Sepherion SUCKS!

Well, James, you're in the minority here.

I heard very good things about Officeteam in the past, which is the reason why I registered with them in the first place. When they pulled the sneaky thing they did to me (and twice, to boot!), that's when I decided to speak up.

Apparently, plenty of other people across this country have had the same experience with Officeteam. I don't know who Officeteam thinks they are, but to act high and mighty by putting out all these requirements for employment when the majority of folks who they place on assignment can't run a copy machine just isn't right.

I'm glad you've had good experiences with them, but I wouldn't recommend them to a sewer rat.

And another thing: Apparently it's not all these people saying the same thing about their experiences with Officeteam branches all over the country. The problem is clearly with Officeteam.

I went in applied and had some previous office experience. I spent two hours doing the typical testing and bs you have to do at these staffing agencies and then they said they would call. I heard no response. I called them a week later and they said everything checked out but they had no positions available. Why didn't they tell me that to begin with. Don't waste your time. You are in the minority if you actually find a permanent job through most of these big staffing agencies.

I have had my fill with these full of crap agencies. I am taking action by exercising my right as a consumer. I am launching a complaint with each and every staffing agency that gave me the run around, the bait and switch, and any other unfair practice with the EEOC and any other consumer protection agency that will listen. I suggest that everyone else do the same. Until the people that are being affected directly and indirectly raise a stink how can anybody smell what is cooking?

When they finally matched my profile the job turned out not to be as described. (a job heads down in a windowless room doing data entry is not an administrative assitant). I had gone on a one day working interview, followed their protocol about talking to the supervisor and telling her I was not returning and the assistant at Office Temp called me unprofessional for not staying. After I filled out a feedback questionnaire sometime later, this same person called me and was once again nasty. I will never use them again, as they probably won't use me :). This was my first experience with a temp agency and it has made me very wary.

First, they want 3 references so they can harass as many hiring managers possible. The actual performance of the temp in question is not the primary objective when calling a reference. The job of the Office Team rep is to get names of hiring managers and try to get them to use office team temps. I was only there 3 months and I can think of about 30 jobs where my manager was having me send candidates who didn't even meet minimum criteria for a job. I would send someone who couldn't even type 20 WPM on jobs that were asking for 60 WPM. Forget it!! It makes me sick to think about that place!!!!

The snotty woman MANAGER high on her horse at the Greenwood Village Colorado office was trying to get SIX references out of me -- SIX !!! -- including out of state!!! I couldn't believe it! I said, "Why in the world would you need that many references for temp work???" I found out she called the 3 references I did give her (I refused to give any more!) and was trying to find out if they had any hiring needs! Unbelievable!

I signed on with the Braintree, MA Office Team a few months ago.... every time you call them you get sent to a voice mail, and they NEVER return your call. They call you only to offer some crappy low-paying job when they are desperate.

I've had better luck with Spherion and Randstad... there is always someone there to talk to you and they always return you calls.

Yes, if you didn't read my other posting, the freaky girl at the Office Team in Greenwood Village, CO, asked me for 6 -- yes SIX !!! references. I gave her 3 and told her if that isn't enough, I am sorry but you should not even need that many for temp work!!! Their assignments are very, very low level --and they'll send college grads with 10 years experience plus to stuff envelopes but LIE about what the job is. They don't even seem to have long term temp jobs. They are a BIG SCAM.

I was floored when I read about their needing half a dozen references - including ones from out-of-state. That's insanity!

I would love to know who these people are paying off, or what dirt they have on people, to be able to continue doing this to everyday people all across this country.

I contacted Office Team when I saw an opening they had on one of the job websites for a payroll supervisor and went for an interview. The director asked me if I would be interested in an internal position as a staffing manager. Of course I was interested! Three weeks and 5 interviews later they told me they didn't think I had the experience they were looking for and good luck in my job search. I never did get an interview for the payroll supervisor and have not heard back from the original director. The whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth.

It was very interesting reading about your experience as a staffing manager with Office Team. I had an interview for a temporary position and the director asked if I would be interested with an internal opening as a staffing manager. 3 weeks and 5 interviews (also they called all my references) later they told me they didn't think I had the experience they were looking for. They never did try to place me in a temporary position. I'm thinking of filing a complaint with the attorney general. Thank you for the insight. What temp agencies you dealt with? Just curious. I know what you mean with the run around, etc. I've never worked with Office Team, but I'm banning all temp agencies from my life at this point.

Since you mentioned wanting to file claims, I have to say that the EEOC was of no help...falling just short of calling me a liar, even when I've had to spell out evidence in my case. The case was a discrimination / wrongful termination type.
They say they find no evidence of it, but I can proceed with a private lawsuit.

I said to my investigator, "I came to the EEOC for help." What does she say to me? "What made you think you were going to get help?"

I am not getting help from them because I am not the one with the big money. My former temp agency employer is, so the EEOC believes them. Plus, I think the temp agency is retaliating by belittling my skills.

So, if you do file a claim, I just wanted to give you a heads up. You may end up suing the EEOC as well.

That is yet another issue I have with temp agencies in general. They can not seem to tell the difference between data entry and admin assistant jobs! So many temp agencies I've told that I DO NOT WANT DATA ENTRY. Admin assistant jobs, yes...data entry, no. What do they do? Call me to ask if I'd be interested in such and such data entry job. You are right to be wary with the whole business of being offered or placed in the wrong jobs. It seems to be very common amon temp agencies.

The reason they want so many references from each person is so that they can call these companies so they can sell their agencies services. Everyone is giving them contacts right to Human Resources, they would never get pass the secretary otherwise.

I have dealt off and on with these employment agencies for many years in between jobs. Many times I had anxiety attacks because I knew that the job they placed me was only to fill a hard to fill position. One time I was on a temp position and the girl that left took the password with her to log onto the computer so you couldn't get into the computer. As I sat at the computer the manager told me to figure it out. I walked out after telling him to "figure it out"

The Wilmington, Delaware site stinks too. They ought to just get on out of here.

A few years ago, I worked for Office Team in the Midwest, and they were all right at finding summer jobs for me (I was in college at the time). When I moved to the inland SoCal area, I went to them again thinking things would work out as well as they had in the Midwest. I also assumed I'd have a decent chance of finding something in the greater Los Angeles area. 2005 was the last time I ever had any good interactions with them. They found me a job paying a lousy $10/hour. I could have made that in Omaha, Nebraska. You can't live off that in California! I turned down a few offers this summer because I was still working a job, and I think as a result they put me at the bottom of their list. Not only that, in the Midwest, they didn't send out my resume, they simply told the companies' HR staff that they would be sending me as a temp. I keep calling them back and they say they have nothing for me, yet their website showed 3 different jobs in my city, all of which I knew I could do. (Let's face it, nothing they have is rocket science.) When I called my "staffing manager" back, he told me I wasn't qualified for those jobs because I didn't have the 2 years experience the company was looking for. Fine, but that was to do a 2-week job. How much experience did I need?! Furthermore, I've spent the last 7 years in college and grad school (doing humanities degrees...which is why I have to turn to temp agencies in the first place!); I'm going to them BECAUSE I don't have experience! If I can't get it there, then where?! Then he said my scores on the tests weren't good enough for another company. To be honest, I want to know where, in the world of temp agencies, someone who scored 100% on the Word test and 95% on the Excel test, and who can type 90+ words per minute with zero errors isn't "good enough". And I even have a Master's degree! This office in southern California is a joke.

My Officeteam experience was crap too. They straight up lied to me about a position being Temp to Perm and when I got there I found out that they had a 6 month contract and you MIGHT get hired on full time, but the temps weren't there to move to permanent positions. (There was also no training and they were having us work 10 hour shifts with no breaks.) When I asked about this they acted like I was a crazy liar trying to start trouble. They were outright rude about the situation. I was really nice about it and thought that my rep, Simon, was just mistaken and I didn't want other folks to get misinformation because he was misinformed. Apparently that wasn't the case. It seems to me that I was lied to so I would take thier job with hopes of a future permanent position.

I had a very pleasurable experience with the Officeteam Group in Greenwood Village, CO. They told me upfront that they didn't guarantee jobs yet still found me one in three days. I have enjoyed the position and have been making $4 more dollars per hour than in my last role which I found on my own.

All staffing agencies are the same you take the test score high on them and then poof that have nothing for you. And to make matters worst I'm 52 years old and still have nothing.

I just quit working at my office team assignment because my manager at my placement was very unprofessional towards his female colleagues and office team wanted me to continue working there with this guy for two more weeks so that they could find a replacement! I said no thank you and they said they wouldn't represent me anymore. I said fine because I don't want to work for a company that would require me to continue working with a manager who is inappropriate to women employees.

That is really ironic! The Greenwood Village office team gal sent me out to help with a "marketing campaign." It was -- GUESS WHAT -- STUFFING ENVELOPES!

I called her and said this is not what you told me the job was about. She got all huffy and said, "Finish the assignment or we can't place you anymore."

What a beeee--otch! I figured they wouldn't send me out anyway and I didn't like their ethics, so I walked out and politely told the HR manager that the job was not what Office Team said it was.

If more candidates would WALK OUT Office Team won't be getting many calls from clients and they'll go out of business!!!
