Yes... I gave them 8 years of my life as a manager, I went in on Tuesday and within the hour I was laid off. No explanation why they were doing it or why it was me. I can't imagine what all the others who were laid off that day are feeling right now.

My wife worked there for 4 years as a manager... same thing. Walked in on Tuesday and laid off in one hour. No solid explanation. She's 6 months pregnant. They said they had to choose between her and the other manager. He's not pregnant, nor will he ever be, and he's great friends with the DM. He's only worked there for 4 months. Both of them were "on target performers". hmm... I don't really like lawyers, but....

Yesterday 40% of the Old Navy production department was let go. VP's, SVP's, Managers. Looks like they are getting rid of higher paid employees. Since this is part of a large layoff they do not need to pay severance packages that are normally given to long standing employees. Many of these longt term employees also have stock options that are way above the current price. So not only are these people not getting a comprehensive severance but are also losing out on their stock options, which cannot be cashed in right now. Lower the salaries and get rid of outstanding stock. Kind of disgusting.
They are also promoting some people to oversee the fewer employees. With a negative 20% comp no one should be hetting promoted.

i have few friends who knew about the layoffs before. its been coming for awhile now, and comes as no surprise, as without Jenny Ming, as far as I am concerned, Old Navy's future is limited. With it's current president, clearly not a people focused person, those who were let go are probably the lucky ones....

Old Navy began cutting their Loss Prevention agents earlier this month as well....In my opinion, that isn't such a great idea....

I had worked for the gap/old navy for 15 years. we were given no notice of layoffs until the morning we walked into work and the dm and hr told us it would be our last day. we were told we would get one week of severence pay for every year we had worked......it's been 6 months and we are all still waiting. the company changed so much over the years and it wasn't for the best. my advice stay away !!!

How a company can change in a 2 year time. I started in June 2004 for a company that valued their people. 8 months ago I left a company that did not care for their people anymore. I understand the financials, but as a GM I was asked to force many managers out, my only regret is that I did what I was told.

I was the vm for old navy for a year. I was laid off early this month, but I predicted it would happen late last year when our regional director put a hold on our open logistics manager position. I knew old navy wasn't making money and that they weren't seeing any of the money they invested into the visual program but everyone assured me it wasn't going to happen until I went into work one day and I was informed I no longer had a position with the company. My feeling is that Old Navy changes a lot, yet they don't give their changes enough time to pan out. Some of the other comments mentioned severance pay and the employees not receiving any or only receiving one week per year of service and this is incorrect. I was given a severance package I felt extremely fair given the short amount of time I was with the company, so i can imagine that they would compensate corporate employees at least equally as fairly.

Most of what is in these blogs are true. In our store, when they laid off our Logistics Mgr. They brought over a manager from another Old Navy in the area and put her as assistant mgr. It has been a nightmare for all of us since then. She changed up all the teams we had in place (sign 2 sell, markdowns, etc.) and it has been a mess. We all wish they would have just moved our logistics mgr to asssistant mgr. Also, all the "new keyholders" are getting all the hours so they can come in and open and close at night so the "managers" can work bankers hours. Anyone in retail knows retail managers do not work 9-5, M-F.. And have a sucessful store..it has been terrible!!! Also since the "new keyholders" hours come out of the associates hours.. All of us have had our ours cut.. Way back...I only had FOUR HOURS last week..and 11 this week. Its not just me, they had the whole logistics team only work till 11am. You can only imagine the inventory that was stacked up in the front AND back store room when we all had to leave at 11am Tues.morning. I have worked for Old Navy in the past, it was NEVER this bad before. Maybe it is just the store that management is chasing their tails??? I'd like to know.
