Based on my personal experiences, I believe there are very few companies, less than 1% who are sincerely interested employing people with disabilities for reasons other than Federal Requirements.

People like myself need clear and close directives and guidance on finding a suitable job matching my specific needs. I have lost three jobs specifically because of my disabilities, although I was performing my essential job duties. Just to give you an idea:
1. The first was after nine years of service with the company, and after battling clinical depression for 5-6 years, I eventually revealed my condition to my supervisor because I felt that it would help explain some small matters. Initially he was supportive and told me that i was better at 85% than most if not all of his other managers were at 100%. He came back a few days later, after speaking with the owner of the company and advised me that I had six months to get well, or he would have to let me go. Obviously, this exasperated my symptoms, however I continued to work and do a good job, and I rarely missed any time out of work. He made good on his promise, exactly six months after our discussion I was fired.

2. 8 Years of continued service on my next job. Then the manager who fired me from my first job came to work for our company, and as fate would have it, was my new manager. Within a few months after his arrival, I was on short-term disability; which was all of the sudden stopped. Then I was told I owed the company back pay on disability, and within a week from then I was fired.

3. 4.5 Years of service. After about a year on the job, I began experiencing bullying and harassment on the job which was reported over time several times, but never stopped. It got so bad I had to resign. Now i have no job, no income and I find it impossible to find any kind of job now.
