I had several interviews at Owens & Minor for a position I was applying for.
Each interview not only lasted approx. one hour. They conducted these interviews over several days, so you had to come back. I showed up each day (unsure if I would get this position) to be interviewed. During one interview, The head of the department interviewed me for one hour. She then showed me the desk "I" would be working at, introduced me to a person "I" would be working with. Showed me what "I" would be doing in this position. All the while telling me "this is what you'll be doing". She told me HR would be contacting me next week. I have seven years experience in the field I was appling for, and six years experience in management. I waited for a week, left a message for the head of HR, letting her know what this woman said to me. I never received a phone call back. I called the second week, finally got a hold of HR only to be told they hired someone else for the position. I informed HR what this woman said to me, and how she came across. That she never said to me "The person who would fill this position would be doing this, or that".
I felt very mislead by this "so called" manager. Her actions, and wording were totally unprofessional. If it wasn't for me calling them, I never would have known they hired another person. Owens & Minor never had the common courtesy to send me a letter once the position was filled. I am an Office Manager (six years) and it is the policy of the company I work for to send out a letter to each candidate that applied for a position. It's called Professionalism. Something most companies like Ownes & Minor fail to do. Tell me would you really work for a company who does not have common courtesy?

I think you're being a bit too hard on them, frankly. Yes, they got your hopes up and teased you. Hiring companies do this all the time when they're going to pay low but want to get your interest & arousal climbing through the roof so you won't even notice that they're paying below market once they make the offer. If they make you think you had the job, I don't see why you couldn't have clarified this with them in all the time you spent with them. 'You mean I have the job' is all you had to say, right? Just because they used the phrase, 'You'd be sitting here working with Johnny' doesn't make them unprofessional when they chose someone else.

I have to disagree with you uh Big Jake is it? My brother felt the same way. He also had an interview with this company. They gave him the same run around and the same speach. I remember casue he called me up telling me he kept coming back for several interviews. He thought he got the job just like this person. He never heard from them. I remember he told me it bugged him. It doesn't matter though he has a great job now. Their loss I say. I hope this M person has one too. I have to kind of wonder if you work for this company.

Sorry to read about your brothers experience with O&M. However, I'm glad to hear he got a great job. Your right their loss. Well I got a job as well. Some companies know right away from your past job experiences, and during the interview if you'll be an asset to them or not. I now work with a bunch of great people. I look at it as "It was meant to be".
I don't know if this guy works for O&M, but he was a bit hard on me wasn't he? Some people are so quick to judge.
