Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Party City? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Party City? |

Typical office hours in the corporate office. Most people are out by 6:00-6:30, but all businesses need flexibility. Slackers need not apply. A typical day is like all offices - you have to be flexible. Team environment, very supportive. Everyone gets a laptop with docking station in the main office. They have a softball team, and I believe they get together periodically. They are having a "Luau" party in July...... "Cake" day once a month to celebrate b-days for all associates in that month. I will say this is one of the better office environments I have worked in. On-site gym, BIG lunch room, day care center attached next door, etc.... |

I interviewed there and everyone was nice until they had me meet a senior exec who was the founder's son. he met with me for maybe 5 minutes, asked irrelevant questions and i felt very uncomfortable with him. though the other folks really liked me, he apparently had VETO power for candidates and knocked me out of the running that day! i'd never experienced such an abrupt and unfair rejection in my 20 year career. watch out if you interview there. |

There are many "culture" issues internally with this company at the corporate headquaters in Rockaway, NJ. Very unprofessional, immature, kind of junoir high school-ish or "clicky" I guess, in the social enviorment, pretty much you are in or you are out socially. Even if you come in everyday, do your job well, and complete all tasks above expectations if they do not like you they will get rid of you. To the point that they smile at you and cannot wait to stab you in the back once you walk away. I have had a more then a handfull of recruiters I am working with tell me about this when speaking to them about applying to positions I have seen on other job listing websites. |
