Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at PepsiCo?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at PepsiCo?

The above reply hit it dead on. Most positions are stressfull and physically demanding. The days go by very quickly since there is never a free moment. The company is competitive from inside and out. Pepsi creates a competitive internal environment, squeezing the most they can get out of their employees. No matter what function with the company, you are measured from a to z on everything. The company holds everyone to very high standards. Performance and winning is everything. The positive, you are given the training and tools to succeed. This company is a good starter job for any young person looking for a career and training. In many markets, they lead their competition because they have very good people. If you don't like hard work, don't apply. When I say hard work, I mean very hard work.

Frito Lay laid me and others off almost one year and six months ago after twenty one years of honor service for them. They are always hiring new employees and closes older plants just about every year save a little $ and use those saving to purchase a small snack company to gain market shares. Frito Lay controls more than 60% market shares in the snack market. Do not land a job in the older production plant if you want to work for them.

I am still looking for a full time job. Recently, a HR rep told me that they would not hire me back for even though I did not do any wrong except expressing an equal opportunity for me and other peers. I was labeled as a bad employee by a new manager at that time. The VP of HR and other VP supported a new non-exempt employee committee about management needed to improve their skills and diversity a few years ago. It was very unfair that I was labeled as a bad employee.

Meanwhile, one employee left for a competitive company and was hired back without going though HR approval.

My friend from Africa works for the company. According to him, Ohh! The company is good but they uses people a lot all the time, especially part-time employees. i guess that's corporate America. I do not know why they choose to keep some people in full time position when all they do is kiss their boss ass and nod head. Seriously, it needs better recruiting. people are hired for reasons they are not qualified or has prove their worth only in words.
