Does it depend on the location in the US? Example, the state of Maryland? And what type of bonus and/or commission is involved with Pet product managers? I also heard they work too hard for nothin.

It may very well depend on location, experience, and a number of other factors, but starting pay for some PPM's here ranges from $9-$11.50+ per hour. There are no commissions at PetSmart unless you work in services such as grooming or pet training and the position is hourly, up to 45 hours per week. And there are quarterly bonuses based on a number of factors driven by the entire store staff. I have held this position in the past and found that, yes, it is hard work. You are an inventory manager, responsible for and performing duties in the core (dog/cat) area of the store. You do everything from paperwork to breaking down a load, and depending on the volume of a particular store, the loads can be huge. If you like or come from a background in retail stock, this job is not far from that, but with added responsibilities. It is a bridge position to a department head position like presentation manager, or pet care manager depending on your path, interests, or the needs of the store.
