Do you work at Pitney Bowes? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

I started with them as a temp/contractor (in the recruiting division). I would never go back. Ever.

I work as a senior sales rep. It is a wonderful job and I will probably be here for the remainder of my career. I applied on-line and called the sales manager to ask for an interview. I was hired two weeks later.

I have an interview for this position on Thursday. Could you tell me more? What do you like about it? How long have you been working there? What is your background. Thanks Sarah for the positive feedback. It is refreshing!

Once again Sarah paints a picture of a wonderful world from the Ivory Towers of PB. I was also a senior rep and I just glanced over a PB directory I need to burn and there is no Sarah at all (as of this years update in March) in field sales. Obviously she is writing from PB's HQ in Stamford, probably a telemarketer.

I made $80k in my best year (187% of plan). This was before the severe cut in commission and change in structure. My first Pacemaker (top in sales) year I only yielded $67k after the cuts. I worked in three different offices. My first in the mid-west where all was good and I was making good money. Once I transferred to the E.C. it all went to h3ll in a bucket. Illicit, back stabbing, rumor spreading sales is what you need to look forward to. I know your VP as well and lets just say Steve is an SOB.

Very number oriented, don't care that you have a family, and will cut your throat to see if they can get more sales out of you. I hope you don't have the same experience but over half of my district was looking for a job when I left.

Good luck to you, but do not listen to Sarah, her job is most likely to monitor forums to discredit anyone posting things as I am. I have more information than this if Sarah wants to start a real forum discussion instead of quoting from her telemarketers handbook.

Peacefully working for a $80k base, company car, expense account and $250k at target now. Boss 5 states away and pretty much on my own. There are much better companies and MUCH better pay out there. Have a look at the carriers and Neopost as I said previously.

I responded to a listing on the web for Director of Contracts and Compliance in Stamford back in January. The listing was with every employment website, then some. I unfortunately went through a recruiter who turned out to be inexperienced, lacking ambition. Nevertheless, I interviewed with 5 PB individuals who liked me and said they looked forward to working with me. All but one, who interviewed me as if I was applying for an attorney's position which it is not. I had the 10 years experience that mirrored exactly what they were asking. Here it is June and I just learned from my recruiter that they feel I don't have enough experience!!!!!! And the listing is back on the website as of this morning. Does anybody have any insight?

Most likely they don't want to pay what you are worth. Their future looked bleak to me. There competitor is in the same State just a short drive to Hasler. I'd consider that route since Neopost's acquisition they are pounding the hell out of PBI and it's hurting them.

That may well be but for 10 years experience, they're going to have to pay someone. Obviously they are still looking. I know the current Director is very particular about who takes the position; hence the reason that the job has been on every major website for nearly a year. I think the person they are looking for doesn't exist. And if they did, they would have $150K or more a year--they are asking a lot. Not only do you have to direct contracts and compliance, they want you to be an attorney without the degree. And speaking of attorneys, they can't seem to keep them either. The one working there is a bulldog and no one likes her or can work with her yet they keep her.

They will tell you diffrent but it is all smoke, believe me work in there organization for one day and you will see the horror story i am talking about. The way they are going they are losing customers left and right so i don't think working for this company is a good idea.

I went for my first interview yesterday for a client service representative. I have a second interview coming this Friday. I want to know if anyone can tell me more about the companny as well as there customer service position. I will be working in the Clifton, NJ office. Do you see growth within Pitney's organization? Why do soem of you say this is the worst company to work for? What is is that you dislike about this company? Also my worries is training? The customer service part is fine with me but learning there systems and the mailing and tracking how is that and do you say training is up to par so you can take over and jump in and do your job efficiently?

As I said on another blog topic re: PBMS & it's sister div. They are a great case study for American business " what not to do's". They have a silent "turn" policy. Sales people are bad but management & operations RULE. It's not a very positive or nurturing environment. Their managers are a negative and not a proactive force. Boggles my mind how they stay in business with their continuing hire/fire mentality. Not disgruntled employee but saddened on how many good people they go through!

If you want training & a job that lasts for less than 2 years go with PB. Take advantage of what you can learn from them & chalk it for experience. Be aware when you get "Plan to action" or "plan for success" report. They setting in motion for easing you out. Usually 90 days left!
