This has been posed again and again. Same Job posted for over a year. Seems like BS. |

It's not that they don't exist, they just can't keep anyone in them because the company is an antiquated behemoth that doesn't know how to properly manage or retain employees. |

This ad regarding a Receptionist opening is listed each and every week for months now. I was invited in to interview for this position. Yet, the ad just keeps listing...I don't believe they have an opening. It looks like they are just merely testing the waters...Just in case! However, it would be nice if they would mail you a letter stating the fact that they didn't hire you. As disappointing as that may be, at the very least, you would feel like they DID remember you! |

The posted job is for a sales representative, not a receptionist. Probably why they didn't call you back. |

Yes, they tend to let go of people who do not adhere to the professionalism standards that they have set forth. As for antiquated, PB is the leader in mailstream technology and has been for over 80 years. |

Sarah in Stamford, Connecticut said: The posted job is for a sales representative, not a receptionist. Probably why they didn't call you back. I answered an ad for a Receptionist opening. An interview was set up for the open "Receptionist" position. At the interview, they made it clear, it was to fill the "Receptionist" position. I was told, that there was plenty of room for advancement. I'm not bothered with the fact that they did not hire me. What bothers me is the fact that the human factor has been removed from the hiring process. No longer do companies feel it necessary to write or call regarding their decision or the status of their hiring process. For all the time and effort we put into being gainfully employed; it really only takes just one minute or less for a hiring manager to send off an email with just the bare facts. It could be very short and sweet..."Thank you for your interest in our company. However, we filled the position". When the need arises, They will then take this file, copy it into their email, include who gets it on the (TO)line; then hit send. And, all that will take less than one minute. Although it is not what the candidate wanted to hear, it becomes a tool to help candidate move forward. The applicant believes he was remembered...And, that gives the applicant the strength to keep trying! In todays computer, internet, high-speed age; we are no longer putting the human touch into our day to day dealings. That is a shame! When the word does come, "We'd love to offer you the position...When can you start"? Are we expected to perform as robots? Or, are employers looking for more. Perhaps they will be looking for a human being! One who has empathy for others. That would be me! However, as far as Pitney Bowes is concerned, all I will say is..."Pass them by! Don't waste your time"... |

If any of you have ever been in mamagement you know you need people on the bench. Job listings are posted to the PB family first, then they go public. This way the PB family gets the opportunity to climb the corporate hill. PB is a great company with tons of opportunity. It is rare that PB would fire someone, most people are too short sighted to see the big picture at PB. Roll over is due to the employeee just not working... period. |

Mailstream is a (meaningless)term PB paid some agency megabucks to create. They still treat internet postage as a "fad". (There's that technology thing....)They DO tend to let go people who can't deal with groupthink and the myriad other corporate ills they suffer from. If you really typed the above without a complete sense of irony, surely you must be in management. |

As for antiquated, PB is the leader in mailstream technology and has been for over 80 years. Not only do they let the bad go but also the good. I never missed a number in my tenure at PB. I was always on top, a Pacemaker and left at 115% of target. Poor management, total LACK of respect for any employee's personal issues that do happen from time-to-time and a SEVERE cut in commissions are major reasons to NEVER consider PB. In the next three years the field sales force will be cut by at least 35%. This will happen mostly by their revolving door in sales. This information was gathered from a top level Stamford employee (FYI). So those considering a position, TAKE ANOTHER interview. Their base pay is terrible, their commission is crap and Sarah in Stamford doesn't know jack because she is in the Ivory towers (Stamford) where they make it seem like everything is wonderful when it is most definitely not! I was offered better pay and a better position when I resigned but emphatically refused even after a call from a friend in home office. I would rather go flip burgers than work in PB H3LL ever again. |

And with the introduction of OZ to the sales force you not only work in the field all day busting your hump. Then you get to go home and spend hours on a program designed to protect their confidential information.

Want to know if PB is a good company to work for or not? Try calling customer service. The biggest bunch of PB propaganda spouting script reading losers I've ever dealt with! Horrible. I wouldn't even apply there if those are the low standards they conform to and now that I'm exploring opportunities I make sure to steer clear of any PB jobs that are posted. Having dealt with them as a customer I KNOW it's not somewhere I'd ever consider working! Sarah is definitely a corp. lackey. |

My husband was hired in Jan07 by PB in INDY.. for a 6 month contract. There pay rate is high, so far they have treated him very well, the only thing is you know when you go in, that your temp.. and then need to work to get your foot in the door. The only complaint he has, is being a supervisor for them, He said they have hired a lot of lazy people, One race especially.. and dont seem to do anything about it.

LOVE MY NEW JOB AWAY from PB in Hayes, Virginia 59 months ago |
lisa in Houston, Texas said: what race is lazy? don't start stereotyping now... No kidding, what a jerk. It's 2007 and I completely understand why you are an hourly paid clock puncher and a temporary one at that. The temp service you work for pays you, not PBI. PBI is paying your temp service nearly twice what you make if not more. I hope that the "one race" you refer to gets your job you racist slug. |
