Do you work at Progressive Insurance? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

If and when you find out how to get job with Progressive, please let me know. I apply every week and NEVER get an interview. I personally emailed HR and I am sure I black balled myself. The response I receive was so NASTY!!. i WILLPUT IT OUT SO ALL CAN SEE THE RESPONSE FROM HR!! I qualify for theposition, but i now know that I will never get an interview.

By the way, this is not true name because I am still applying.

So, I suggest just keep applying.

Unfortunately, if you are not straight out of college, your chances are pretty slim. I've applied many times w/ Progressive myself.

I wouldn't work there if someone paid me $100k. This company has a 17% turnover rate. They are always hiring new adjusters. If they don't like you, they will find a way to push you out. Not recommended for new college graduates.

Well I had applied and started the hiring process, but

I was turned down. I have a background as a Police Officer where I was assigned to a Traffic Homicide Unit investigating Accidents, I have worked in the Private sector doing Accident Reconstruction, and I have a strong Mechanical education. I have been certified as an Expert Witness in 6 Courts for Accident Reconstruction and finally I was a DWI Instructor at the Police Academy.

I scored a 37 on the First in house exam, and was told that I passed the other one. My background check was good, the interviewer told me he would rate me in the top 100 of Behavioral Interviewer responses that he has heard. But for all this I was not forwarded to a face to face interview due to a "instability in job history". I had a job 8 years ago where I was only employed for 7 months. I was told that I was seen as a risk to being a stable tenured employee.

I let it roll off my shoulder until, I met the person they did hire by chance. He told me he has no college education and his previous job was a line cook at the Waffle House for 6 years. Now that was insulting, Scattered-Covered-Smothered gets the job for flipping waffles for 6 years and I get denied because of 1 seven month job 8 years ago. I see a degree and experience means nothing.

So I don't know if I should be sorry with myself for not getting accepted or sorry for Progressive for losing out on a Career employee, or sorry for the rest of you that work there for to work aside this new Waffle Iron.

I have an interview this week for an adjuster posistion. Do you know how much this pays? How long do you have to be an adjuster before you move up. What would an advancement be? Claims? Thanks!

I am still trying to get a job with progressive. I apply everythime I see an opening. I have over 20 years insurance expereience. I am begining to think it's due to my RACE. I know someone who applied and I trained that person and she has much less experience and she was selected for an interview, That's why I KNOW it as RACE thing. I know she could not pass the interview (because, remember I trained her), so I know know they are are willing to hirE a small minority of a different RACE. i KNOW THEY WILL SE MY EMAIL ADDRESS AND i definetly know I won't get an interview. Good luck to you all!!!!!

I recently applied for a Customer Service Representative on Progressive's website back in January of this year. When it comes to work experience, I've only had admin/clerical experience with no college degree. I've got some college, but never finished. I've been trying to get on with an insurance company for years with no luck - until now.

I was called a couple of weeks ago to come in for testing. I took the first computer test - I was only able to answer 30 questions out of 50 in the time allotted, but I passed that part of the test. I don't know what my actual score was. I took the second test and was told that I would have a phone interview with a Progressive recruiter a couple of weeks later. It was an interview where they asked about past work situations and problems, how you resolved them and what was the result. After completing that interview, I was told by the recruiter that she was going to recommend that I have in person interviews with two of their managers later that week.

I went to their office and was met by the first manager and the interview process was pretty much the same as the phone interview. More questions about past work situations or problems, how you resolved it, and what was the end result. I was met by the second manager and again, more questions about work situations, etc. The interview went really well, their managers were very nice to talk to and it was very relaxed. After the two interviews were overwas told that I would know something within a week.

I got a call from the recruiter day before yesterday and she offered me a job. She told me about the pay, the benefits, etc. and asked if I was interested in accepting the position. I told her yes and she said that I would get an official offer letter, which I got yesterday. I start training on the 17th of this month. I'm in! I don't know what I did right exactly, but I made it anyways.

Keith something very fishy about progressive. I too was a police officr with over 20 years expierence uncluding 10 years as a detective. I have three degrees in criminal justice. My qualifications are very similar to yours. I was told that I did not pass the behavoiral interview. Funny thing while taking the interview I was certain one young man didn't have a clue what he was doing and he was easily confused. The other young man was better but he was just putting on a show. After many years of interogation I have a pretty good feel of how people act and react to conversation. I don't beleive the company even had any openings I think they were just out trying to drum up business. I'll bet everyone who goes to one of their interviews spends countless hours on the website.

Hey all, Ive worked for Progressive for about a year. It is difficult to get your foot in the door, however, once its in you are dying to get back out. I just gave them my two weeks notice....Thank GOD!!! It started out okay, but became very redundant. The company itself is great to work for and the customer experiences Ive had for the most part are positive. Its just a very difficult atmosphere to work in everyday. Stats do show they do have a very high turnover, and this is true. Most employees dont make it there a year. Their training is very detailed and they prepare you very well, but the job has many downfalls. We take incoming calls and are monitored at all times. We are to remain in specific phone modes for set periods of time in order to comply with the standards set by the company. Ours calls are monitored and played back and scrutinized by our superiors. Most of us agreed we felt as if we were being babysat daily. Insurance is very black and white and Progressive does provide you with the tools available to succeed. The "overquilified individuals" may be right, their retention is so bad that they fear when you have good quilifications and credentials that you will not be in the job very long, hence, contributing to their high turnover. Good luck if you decide to move on to pursue a career with Progressive, again they are a great company to work for. As for myself I was not happy in the position and I am moving on to other things.

Does anyone know if they do a drug test as part of the hiring process?

No, no drug testing....but if I remember correctly, they do have policies that take issue with that in the workplace itself.

Someone from their ohio recruiting office called me after seeing my resume on a local job search site. I got an appointment for what I thought was an interview---it wasn't. It was two different types of assessments like IQ tests. I was told I passed and that I would have a telephone interview with someone. I do the phone interview, goes good, then I'm told to come in for a face to face interview! Then I go in for 2 face to face hour long boring interviews with 2 different people! What, one isn't educated enough to make a decision?? Then I sit for about 1/2 hour with a rep to listen in on calls. Then I'm told we'll call you. So they call me and tell me that the Supervisors who interviewed me both felt that I wasn't the right person for the job because of a bunch of bogus things I never even said! They took everything I said out of context, and didn't even bother for a correction! Then I'm told, what about a position in our claims department? Well, you have to do another phone interview. WHAT?? So, I ask, if everything goes good with that interview, do I have to do another face to face? YES, I'm told. Oh, and I had to do a Spanish hour long interview over the phone, too so that I could be deemed "Bilingual"! Imagine that! Freakin spanish speaker ALL my life, took spanish courses in college and I need someone to "certify" me bilingual just to get the extra $2? Well, when I get the phone interview call, the guy seems to have an attitude from the beginning! I try to stay objective about the whole thing, and he just keeps going over what the first telephone interviewer wrote down! Then he calls me back and says that they cannot hire me because they're looking for at least one year of continuous employment from either one of my last two employers!!!! DUH, MY WORK HISTORY WAS ON MY RESUME TO BEGIN WITH!! TALK ABOUT WASTING SOMEONE'S TIME!! So, good luck to you! Maybe they won't waste your time!

No drug testing. Ive been there for a year now and that is one of the things Progressive does not do or follow up on after you are hired.
