Unfortunately, if you are not straight out of college, your chances are pretty slim. I've applied many times w/ Progressive myself. |

I have an interview this week for an adjuster posistion. Do you know how much this pays? How long do you have to be an adjuster before you move up. What would an advancement be? Claims? Thanks! |

I recently applied for a Customer Service Representative on Progressive's website back in January of this year. When it comes to work experience, I've only had admin/clerical experience with no college degree. I've got some college, but never finished. I've been trying to get on with an insurance company for years with no luck - until now. I was called a couple of weeks ago to come in for testing. I took the first computer test - I was only able to answer 30 questions out of 50 in the time allotted, but I passed that part of the test. I don't know what my actual score was. I took the second test and was told that I would have a phone interview with a Progressive recruiter a couple of weeks later. It was an interview where they asked about past work situations and problems, how you resolved them and what was the result. After completing that interview, I was told by the recruiter that she was going to recommend that I have in person interviews with two of their managers later that week. I went to their office and was met by the first manager and the interview process was pretty much the same as the phone interview. More questions about past work situations or problems, how you resolved it, and what was the end result. I was met by the second manager and again, more questions about work situations, etc. The interview went really well, their managers were very nice to talk to and it was very relaxed. After the two interviews were overwas told that I would know something within a week. I got a call from the recruiter day before yesterday and she offered me a job. She told me about the pay, the benefits, etc. and asked if I was interested in accepting the position. I told her yes and she said that I would get an official offer letter, which I got yesterday. I start training on the 17th of this month. I'm in! I don't know what I did right exactly, but I made it anyways. |

Keith something very fishy about progressive. I too was a police officr with over 20 years expierence uncluding 10 years as a detective. I have three degrees in criminal justice. My qualifications are very similar to yours. I was told that I did not pass the behavoiral interview. Funny thing while taking the interview I was certain one young man didn't have a clue what he was doing and he was easily confused. The other young man was better but he was just putting on a show. After many years of interogation I have a pretty good feel of how people act and react to conversation. I don't beleive the company even had any openings I think they were just out trying to drum up business. I'll bet everyone who goes to one of their interviews spends countless hours on the website. |

Hey all, Ive worked for Progressive for about a year. It is difficult to get your foot in the door, however, once its in you are dying to get back out. I just gave them my two weeks notice....Thank GOD!!! It started out okay, but became very redundant. The company itself is great to work for and the customer experiences Ive had for the most part are positive. Its just a very difficult atmosphere to work in everyday. Stats do show they do have a very high turnover, and this is true. Most employees dont make it there a year. Their training is very detailed and they prepare you very well, but the job has many downfalls. We take incoming calls and are monitored at all times. We are to remain in specific phone modes for set periods of time in order to comply with the standards set by the company. Ours calls are monitored and played back and scrutinized by our superiors. Most of us agreed we felt as if we were being babysat daily. Insurance is very black and white and Progressive does provide you with the tools available to succeed. The "overquilified individuals" may be right, their retention is so bad that they fear when you have good quilifications and credentials that you will not be in the job very long, hence, contributing to their high turnover. Good luck if you decide to move on to pursue a career with Progressive, again they are a great company to work for. As for myself I was not happy in the position and I am moving on to other things. |

Does anyone know if they do a drug test as part of the hiring process? |
|

No, no drug testing....but if I remember correctly, they do have policies that take issue with that in the workplace itself. |

Someone from their ohio recruiting office called me after seeing my resume on a local job search site. I got an appointment for what I thought was an interview---it wasn't. It was two different types of assessments like IQ tests. I was told I passed and that I would have a telephone interview with someone. I do the phone interview, goes good, then I'm told to come in for a face to face interview! Then I go in for 2 face to face hour long boring interviews with 2 different people! What, one isn't educated enough to make a decision?? Then I sit for about 1/2 hour with a rep to listen in on calls. Then I'm told we'll call you. So they call me and tell me that the Supervisors who interviewed me both felt that I wasn't the right person for the job because of a bunch of bogus things I never even said! They took everything I said out of context, and didn't even bother for a correction! Then I'm told, what about a position in our claims department? Well, you have to do another phone interview. WHAT?? So, I ask, if everything goes good with that interview, do I have to do another face to face? YES, I'm told. Oh, and I had to do a Spanish hour long interview over the phone, too so that I could be deemed "Bilingual"! Imagine that! Freakin spanish speaker ALL my life, took spanish courses in college and I need someone to "certify" me bilingual just to get the extra $2? Well, when I get the phone interview call, the guy seems to have an attitude from the beginning! I try to stay objective about the whole thing, and he just keeps going over what the first telephone interviewer wrote down! Then he calls me back and says that they cannot hire me because they're looking for at least one year of continuous employment from either one of my last two employers!!!! DUH, MY WORK HISTORY WAS ON MY RESUME TO BEGIN WITH!! TALK ABOUT WASTING SOMEONE'S TIME!! So, good luck to you! Maybe they won't waste your time! |

I went through all of the hoops for a position as a claims rep for progressive. I did the tests, phone interview completed the face 2 face interview this past Friday. They said I would have a response by the following Monday. It is now Tuesday and still no answer about if I got the job or not. Is it common for them to not contact you if you don't get the job? I also contacted the recruiter but she didn't answer. Left a message and she hasn't called me back :( I had to go through so much with the tests and the interviews. The least they could do is call or email me! |

I could not get into Progressive to take their exams until I could give them a name of someone who works there. People are more than willing to you their name because they will get a check for $500.00 if you are hired. I was the only person in the room that passed both test. But failed the telephone interview because I just could not think of an answer to one of the questions quick enough. On the personality test. You can't be honest, you have to be a perfect person. Inregard to moving up in the company it's almost impossible. I found that the people that I spoke to have been taking calls for 10 years or more. There are hundreds on the phone, and only a few supervisors that never leave their position. |

Make sure you are using keywords on resume that match job description.best bet is to attend a job fair to interview face to face. Make sure you stand out.posts of people want to work there b/c its a great place to work. Don't get discouraged...it can take several attempts |

Hi I have been applying at progressive for several years now and I have had no luck. I would love to work for progressive as I know they have amazing benefits and great pay. I am a single mother supporting my entire family that consists of six people including myself. I am 22. If there is anyone out there that has a phone number of a recruiter or has any legitimate information that can be given to me in order to help me get a job that pays better than the part-time minimum wage job I'm at now, please PLEASE let me know. I will be forever grateful. Thank you |

how long did it take after the 2 in person interviews?? I just went through the same exact process this. finished on 2-27-2012 with interviews adn sit in... said about a week... just wondering if i got it! hope so! was in obvious they were going to hire you or what? |

It was not obvious for me if I was hired or not after the in person interviews. But it took 2 weeks before I heard a response. I was offered a position in the central loss reporting unit. The great thing about working at Progressive is all of the opportunities you have to advance. Ive only been working there 8 months and I already got a promotion to an adjuster position. The key to the interview questions is to come up with situations from past experiences. |
