What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does Prudential Financial stack up against the competition? |

Went through layoffs over and over and over and over and over...and over. Well they outsource to India so they have to get rid of american workers over and over and over. They had big plans for Arizona...that never came true. |

Pru is a company undergoing many changes as it exits business it used be in. (example healthcare etc.) Insurance is competitive and coverage is based on having a large group of insured with diversification in the risk pool to limit the overall claims. |

finally left Pru, and finally happy in Succasunna, New Jersey 57 months ago |
I have spent the last 16 years as a slave to Pru. The company uesed to be a great place to work. But the company has made 2 HUGE mistakes over the last 10 years.(of course this fourm is my own personal opinion and we all know what the deal is with opinions...LOL). Prudential demutualized and went public so they could be lsted and traded on the Stock Exchange and Prudential brought Art Ryan on board. For those of you who are not familiar with Mr Ryan, I beleive he used to head Chase (or some banking institute....i never really did pay much attention to him in his "townhall meetings") Anyway, Mr Ryan wants to run the company, which is an insurance company like an investment firm/banking institute. NEWS FLASH***when people hear the name Prudential, the first thing they think is INSURANCE, not investments/retirements. Just for kicks, I think Art should have to go stand on any corner in downtown Newark and ask the first 10 people he sees what they think of when they hear the company name, and if they say Insurance, he should have to accept a "retirement package" and walk away. As for working for the company, their salary is fair/comparible to the industry and they do offer flex time and special perks, but they have the horrible habit of becoming "top heavy" and then lay off and hire less experienced workers at the usual cost of service to the customers. Pleased to accept a "package" and finally walk away |
