As I said before, I am grateful to the staff and mgr at my center, which was in Northfield NJ. They were wonderful & very concerned. I loved them - they really helped me reach my goal. They were screwed as bad as the clients, if not more so. I do recognize that the morons who've been posting all this hate on here were probably the exception rather than the rule. I worked at LA WEIGHT LOSS for over 3 years and had several managers, area directors, and regional directors just like you with no heart and low intellect! Just to give you a head's up in case you haven't gone to file for unemployment yet, you will get a FRACTION of what you earned while you were still employed, especially if you were upper-level management and were raking in the money from all of the people you let go in the past year! If you are unmarried, a mother of young children, and were not in management or an hourly paid employee, then I will listen to your patronizing words. But I have a feeling that your paycheck wasn't the only paycheck in your household or you wouldn't talk to these people like they don't have a reason to be hurt! I haven't read ANYTHING saying that it wasn't a good program; that's why we are all so disappointed! We truly believed in what we were selling, both product and plan. I still do believe in it. But I have never believed in denigrating people I don't know anything about. I am 30 years old and have had 4 jobs in my entire life. Someone like you working for LA Weight Loss tried to cut my wages by 2 dollars per hour in April of 2007. I didn't take it, and it was a difficult decision for me because I didn't want to leave what I felt was my home and my family. So no, I won't just get over it. And I probably will cry. And there is nothing wrong with that when something bad happens that impacts your entire way of living. So go ahead and keep taking those bullets for VAHN!!! SOMEONE HAS TO, CAUSE THE CALVALRY IS COMING!!

I am so sorry for all the employees who lost their jobs. I think this is horrible. For those in upper management who really believe in what they did how about helping some of the customers? I haven't heard that much from any clients in Missouri. Do they employees are clients here not care? I would really like to continue with the program so if anyone has any info on how I can do the Purple Plan without the Lites and what comes after the Purple and at what point I switch I would greatly appreciate it. If you really believe, vent and post info that will help.

I am sorry to hear that it is closing because there was many clients and employees and clients that I got started and developed relationships with. I am sorry to those that had a negative experience. That's right...many of us really did care about our clients, and it's sad that a few bad people had to ruin it for everone (employees and clients alike).

All of you who had bad experiences with supervisors, please don't let that cloud your vision of all the supervisors and upper management in the company. The expression "one bad apple don't spoil the bunch" is really appropriate in this situation.

I like what you say, but unfortunately that wasn't the case here. If we were all good employees--from divisional on down to counselor--maybe this company would have had a fighting chance. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as hurt as the next guy, I LOVED my job and worked there for more than 3 years.

You are full of crap! We worked ourselves to death under fear of losing our jobs! It is a despicable company, however, I met some wonderful people ( clients and fellow employees) and for that I am thankful. It is a shame that all of us had to endure the treatment that was put upon us.

I used to work in corporate in the marketing dept a few years ago. All the horrible comments about VK are true. All of mgmt in corporate are scum. They only cared about themselves. They are also sexist, only hiring women in their depts and making degrading comments.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office is investigating Pure Weight Loss Inc., which ceased operations last week, but says not to expect results any time soon.
"Consumer-protection investigations can be time-consuming," said Nils Frederiksen, deputy press secretary for the Attorney General's Office. "It's a lengthy process."

Frederiksen said Monday that his office had received hundreds of calls from customers of the Horsham-based diet company, which announced abruptly in December that it was closing Jan. 4. It has offered customers, who were required to buy diet food and counseling services in advance, little information about how to recoup their costs.

No one answered the company's toll-free number yesterday. A recording told customers to send a letter to the company's Horsham address. Pure Weight Loss' Web site lists several other diet companies that are offering discounts to Pure Weight Loss customers.

A company spokeswoman said Pure Weight Loss had nothing new to say about whether customers would receive products they ordered or refunds for counseling that did not take place. Customers were asked to fill out forms detailing what they were owed by Pure Weight Loss.

Frederiksen reiterated his advice to customers: File a formal complaint with the Attorney General's Office. That, he said, will help investigators figure out what is happening. The office is particularly interested in hearing from customers who signed up for the program recently or talked with sales representatives late last year. "We want to characterize how the products and services were being marketed at the very end," Frederiksen said.

He urged customers to move quickly to cancel credit card payments to the company, dispute payments, or call financing companies.

He said the lack of information from the company had been "certainly poor public relations" but not necessarily a sign of how customers would be treated going forward.

Cristy Williams, a spokeswoman for CareCredit,

which provided financing for some Pure Weight Loss customers, said customers would not have to continue making credit payments if they followed the company's dispute-resolution process. The number customers should call is on their CareCredit billing statement.

i don't know where i was, but i didn't realize something was up until saturday, january 5th, when i called my center and no one answered. i had a sinking feeling with the name change, obvious change in employee morale, etc. i'm sorry for all of you that lost your jobs. they certainly did not have anyone's interests but their own in consideration, how terribly sad.

putting that aside for a moment, i'd like to say that this method of losing weight worked for me when numerous other methods failed. it is a life change, not a diet, after all. thank you to all the counselors that helped me along (NHP center). i know that your heart was there, even when you were being overworked and exhausted. good luck to all of you in your job searches!

i do have a purple and a gold diary if anyone needs that info, feel free to ask. if anyone can offer advice on what to do once at goal weight for maintenance, i would really appreciate it.

AMEN!!! those people only come here to throw people under the bus, pretty sad.

The thing that is also upsetting is that the news is only focusing on the clients. What about the employees who have NO COBRA insurance and only collect unemployment. They are hit just as hard or even worse than the clients.

And bill the ironic part is that there are only 2 people on here that would "take a bullet for Vahan" the rest have stated that there were problems with how the company was ran from upper management, lawsuits, excess firing, high turnover, and yet nothing was done to correct it but tell the counslors to sell sell sell. Nothing was ever corrected from the top!!!!

FYI - got a letter from Better Business Bureau today & basically they said they cannot do anything b/c they company is "already out of business" (I filed complaint way before Pure closed).

Anyhow they (BBB) suggested contacting the PA Atty Gen'l office b/c they can STILL help. Thanks Karma for posting the Phila Inquirer article. It was interesting. Thee articel also said to contact the PA A.G. PLEASE - especially those who joined recently!

I agree - the employees are really hurting too, it's awful. The women at my center told me about the situation with COBRA (there is none) and they may not even get the correct amount of pay for the final few weeks. It stinks on ice. And it's likely that the employees will end up having to appear in court at some time to testify in this ongoing drama. Very likely, especially the center & regional managers.
