For those of you who charged your LA Weight Loss products and services to Care Credit, here is some help. I called and requested a dispute form. It took 7-10 days to arrive and they expect it back w/in 15 days. That means you have to be 100% prepared to get your stuff copied, etc. and get it back in the mail asap.

I broke down each charge, wrote what I received, what I hadn't received yet, what I paid for, and what I wanted refunded to me (or what I wasn't going to continue to pay for).

I copied all of my receipts, my contract, and mailed it certified mail today. When they receive it, they'll send me a letter telling me my charges have been put on hold until they investigate and decide what to do. I was told this info. by a branch manager at Care Credit. At least we don't have to pay monthly while they decide.

It will take 60-90 days for them to decide what they are going to do about all of these charges that we charged.

I'll keep everyone posted on what transpires. Pls keep me posted as well.

Thanks and good luck!

I, too, paid off my Care Credit card before the interest was added on. I called twice to try to dispute the charges but was told I could not because I had a zero balance. How did you manage to get them to cooperate with you?

The woman I spoke with just sent me a dispute form. She saw I had a zero balance and never said I couldn't dispute. I'll let you know if I hear contrary

Are you disputing the charges within the 60 day time frame that the company says you need to do? I charged my product and weight loss weeks in October. Just curious to see if it is worth going another round with them.

Thank you.

I don't have a zero balance. I owe $2400. I hope those of you who have a zero balance will get some money back. That's just not right that you'd be punished for paying it off early. I would write to them anyhow in a nicely typed letter, outlining all of your charges, what you received, what you didn't receive (services as well as products), then give them a number amount as to what you would like to get back. That might help.

I outlined each charge down to the discount that I received. I even joined the VIP club to get a bigger discount. Dumb!!

I don't see how they'll make us pay for products and services we never received unless there's a clause in the credit card agreement that says we agreed to pay, period.

But, yes, please do send them a dispute letter. This isn't your typical dispute. This is a company going bankrupt, leaving its clients in the lurch. Good luck.

No i purchased everything everything in Sept of 2006. But when I called I said "i'm sure you've been getting hundreds of calls about Pure/LA Weight Loss...add another Victum to your list" She laughed looked at my account and said to fill out the dispute form. I would definatly keep trying...and if you get nowhere call an attorney just to see if you have any legal standing. Have you filled with the AG as well?

Thank you Catmaru and Barb for your replies. I will be filing a dispute with Care Credit. And I did file with the AG in New York and PA.

This site has been helpful as I got most of the information that I needed to follow through with filing a complaint from here. I am just so aggravated that the company continued to sell the program to the public, knowing that the ship was going down, and then tried to hide under bankruptcy protection.

I mailed all of my info to Care Credit under certified mail and they haven't "received it yet", I'm being told. I've checked the certified mail # online and it's not been accepted there yet. I just called care credit and was told that the post office might be holding it behind their desk, waiting for someone to pick it up from care credit. I mailed it 11 days ago. This is bull!!

I wonder if they are purposely not receiving the mail knowing that they will have to possibly refund money back to consumers. I would check with the post office and see why the letter has not been received.

I know! It's all BS!! I'm going to go to the post office tomorrow and put a tracer on it. I waiver between being livid about it and just accepting that fact that I'll have to pay $2500 back w/out getting what I paid for. I mean, lose sleep over it or let it go and learn from it...?!

Was this comment helpful? Yes / No Reply - Report abuse

Put the tracer on the letter and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They should not be refusing their mail. Do all you can to advocate for yourself and don't beat yourself up over paying for this program upfront.
Good luck.

Barb anything new? I just got a letter in the mail today from care credit saying they are reviewing everything. I didn't send mine certified though...just regular mail. I hope you got everything straightened out

Thanks for asking. I checked the # on my certified rcpt everyday and it was finally received on 2/18, even tho I sent it on 2/4. I'm awaiting my letter in the mail telling me my acct is on hold so I don't have to pay until they resolve it. I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks again, Barb

Thank you for posting this - I will call right now and ask for a dispute form! It really is sad when you spend so much money only to be totally defrauded in the end...I think I would have deali better if the program never worked and I failed myself - having them fail us in this way is HORRIBLE!
Thanks again.

---I know what you mean. The plan worked for me too. Well, it worked for 2 months, then stopped working, oddly enough. I changed colors from Purple to Gold, and was stuck at 190 for months, no matter what I did.

Regardless, I believe in Karma and this man will get his in the end.

I was told today that my dispute was denied because my charge on my carecredit is over a year old by two weeks. I still had a year and half on my program. I am going to my sheriff's office and seeing about putting a warrant out for the owner of Pure weight loss for theft by deception. I will see how that goes

Oh my god! Good luck w/ that. I hope there's something you can do!

Care Credit continue to charge me interest, even tho my stuff was on hold, and I was going to dispute that, but decided it's just a waste of my energy.

I wish you the best of luck!!!!

I was denied...b/c I was trying to be responsible and payed off the card before the interest hit...never though that would be a BAD decision...i think it's BS honestly...I mean i still didn't receive the product so why wouldn't I have the same rights as anyone else! These laws are BS...but than again with everything going on in this country right now i'm not surprised to get screwed or "doing the right thing"

That just doesn't seem right. You paid, but didn't get your products or services. I charged and didn't get my services or products. So...what's the difference??

Please contact an attorney or your news channels in your area to make them aware. That just isn't right!!

Catmaru-
I, too, payed off my Care Credit card and the company told me I could not dispute the charge. However, I took all my correspondence that I received from the AG offices in NY and PA and copied it and sent it in with a letter of dispute. I did this past the 60 day time frame that is recommended. I indicated in my letter why I was late and detailed all the correspondence I had with Care Credit and the fact that the AG offices recommended I do this. Well, it paid off because I had the entire charge reversed.
I would still fight this and provide them all the documentation that you have.

To Twinmommy- I would do the same. If you have any documentation send it in and continue to dispute the charge.

The bottom line you paid for services and products you did not receive.
Don't give up- if they still refuse to cooperate I would file a complaint with the FTC or Better Business Bureau.

I agree w/ the above comment. Make good copies, write a detailed letter that is easy to understand (use bullet points or separate paragraphs for each item) and then keep all copies w/ the date you sent them, etc. Send the certified mail or at least signature-needed.

I wrote my letter to Care Credit and detailed each charge. I made it very easy for them to see what I was talking about...but don't forget...we're not dealing w/ rocket scientists. :0\

Best of luck to all of you.

OH, ps, I was left with a $281 bill to pay, which is fine with me. That's what I still owed. BUT they charged me interested while it was on hold...and they charged me $32 finance charge for my $281 balance. Spare me.

At that rate, I'll owe $600 soon!

Best of luck to everyone!

Mona-

Did you purchase any other products that you did not get- snacks, juice, etc?
Also- did you purchase maintenance weeks? Did you purchase a membership to the internet site? If you have any documentation from Pure - i.e. Receipts- copy it and send it in with your dispute letter. If you are beyond the recommended 60 day window for filing your complaint document in your dispute letter why you were delayed in doing so.

I hope this helps.

You sent all that back to care credit? See my problem is I paid off the account around feb of '07. I mean I'm angry about it...but at least it's paid and done. I'll try again and see if it helps. So send in what from the AG...that I have a claim with them? And write a letter explaining the situation?

I encourage all of you who paid off in advance to copy everything that you paid and send it to Care Credit w/ an explanation that you paid for something you didn't get. There HAS to be some sort of recourse for that. I mean, it's ridiculous! Perhap get a few free quotes from a few attorneys. If you go to 3 or 4 for a free consultation, maybe you'll end up w/ some free advice. Or, perhaps hire an atty that only charges if he wins.

This ticks me off so bad. There has to be an aswer other than "sorry, too late!"

Keep trying. Don't take no for an answer. I was "lucky" in that I hadn't paid it off yet, so they credited me $1700, but I still had to pay $300. I'll do $300.

Keep pressing on, ladies!!!

Even though you paid off you account in 2/07, whatever documentation you have indicating what you are owed should be sent to Care Credit with a letter of explanation. I wrote my explanation right on the dispute form itself. If you filed with the AG offices you should have received correspondence back. Include that as well as the letter you sent them when you filed the complaint.

It isn't over yet. I know that this can be time consuming but do not give up. You never know what will happen.

I agree. Do not give up.

Keep meticulous track of everything you send; dates, copies, who you've spoken to, etc.

It's frustrating, but when I was credited my $1700, it was way worth it to me. Don't give up.

If some customer service rep doesn't assist you, ask for someone else higher up.

I feel for you all who are getting the run around. My case was frustrating, but it was relatively quick.

Good luck.

Some of us are tired of being mad, so we decided to get even.
We started a website called DEAR VAHAN: where anyone can write a message or a letter to Pure Weight Loss CEO Vahan Karian and post it. When we have enough, we are going to print them out and personally deliver them to him in a creative way that will be featured on the site. Add your comment or read them so far here:

There's also good information and LA Weight Loss rumors at:
