I hear these two groups are horrible places to work - bad leadership, instability, no profits being generated, and QCT basically drives the overall company. Is this true? Is it worth working in any of these groups?

I work in a group under QCT and don't really pay much attention to QIS or MediaFLO. Even within QCT, the work cultures vary GREATLY between groups/teams. I'm fortunate to have landed in a very competent team with very good leadership, good communication between team members, good work-life balance, and interesting work.

I have a friend who works in a different group within QCT and he doesn't usually have time to even take an hour break for lunch. He often flakes on happy hrs, etc. due to too much work. It also seems his team/group is a lot more political than mine.

My advice would be to gauge the people who interview you. I work with the very same people who interviewed me. I got a very good feeling about them when I interviewed with them. They were all very bright and articulate and seemed to have a personality (as opposed to just being a workaholic robot that you usually see walking around the halls). If you get the feeling that your interviewers are hard-assed workaholics, or they're closed-minded, etc. then you might want to re-think the position you're applying for. More than likely they will be the people you work with or under. At least it was in my case.
