Pros: you can surf anytime you like
Cons: you can surf anytime you like :) ask your managers.
The company culture is very laid back, true to the water sports that they represent which in and of itself is an awesome thing. Make sure you take part in Town Hall Meetings. That is when you get to drink on the job and in the office with beer provided by the compnay from the company fridge - as much as you want, so LIABILITY must not be an issue here. I can see this as a part of the culture 30 years ago, but not anymore. So if you want a job that rewards you for hard work and recognizes your accomplishments, then you have come to the wrong place.
Leadership is a reflection of difficult decision making and leading by example. So when you have the opportunity to support your staff you better do it. This includes proper training and consistent feedback on work performance as a way to communicate to your employees that you are listening and recognizing their progress, self starter or not. This is just a simple example of what does not happen here.
And if you are looking for a company that is growing, check the financials and educate yourself as to where the losses are coming from. This company has laid off over 100 people in the past 6 months, and voluntary turnover has been high to say the least, so blaming the economy for this one is a stretch.
Supporting change is a good thing when done correctly and inline with the company's goals. But when the company has executives that base their decisions on personal political infighting, you have a formula for deceit and eventually a poorly managed workplace, or one that is not managed at all.
Executive team, are you listening?
