Do you work at Raytheon? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in? |

I actually work at Raytheon and applied for a transfer to Tucson 1 month ago. I have yet to hear from HR if they want to have me down for an interview. So my gut feeling is if you are applying from outside the company...good luck you're going to need it. |

I agree with Disgruntled. My wife is in the Tucson area and has a vast background as an executive assistant with DoD Contractors. She has applied for numerous "openings" and has been refused for all positions. She has a standing Secret clearance and an awesome list of referances. I guess she just dosn't know the secret handshake. |

Oh man it's neopotism at it's finest. The summer interns just started and I can't name one that doesn't share a last name with one of the engineers. It's amazing that we're still in business with some of the idiots they hire just to say they have a "diverse" workforce. I'm going to BAE...$10,000 toilet seats here we come! |

Raytheon blows. I have been trying to get in there for years too. I have two masters degrees and lots of relevant experience. They did fly me out to Tewksbury once, but after the interview I couldn't even get HR to return my calls. My friend works for them here in Tucson. He actually threw a fit in front of HR when they totally ignored my resume and his recommendation to a job in international BD. They ignored him too. Unless you're connected at the hip to someone there, I suggest you spend your time looking at other opportunities with real companies - if there is such a thing... |

It was this way too when I worked at IBM in Clevleland while in college earning my EE. Nepotism, you bet! A popular saying when workers finished a project was, "good enough for government work." In 1994, my last year in college IBM did major downsizing and I was laid off (along with many others). Me? I have no family or friends in industry, so I don't have to tell you that I am still unemployed; 5 1/2 years and counting. |

Actually, Raytheon is the only government contractor that took the time to tell me where things stand with regard to my applications. I still am looking for work, but in my case (not too long looking, yet) they have at least attempted to communicate to me, and indicate some interest in my qualifications. At least in the case of their Omaha office. As in any job seeking instance, networking does definitely help. But this is universal and does not apply strictly to Raytheon. |

Put in for about five different administrative positions and never heard back once other than the standard email that they received my application. I have over 20 years experience and all of the qualifications, so not really sure why it is so hard to get an interview. They must do all of their hiring from within the company. |

I actually got an onsite interview (in Tucson) but there was a more experienced and better fit candidate on the same day. I sent in a thank-you email and the hiring manager replied to it to say I wasn't hired. One of the intervier was a cocky SOB but I think most people were nice. |

I was interviewed for a IT job at their Alexandria office for about 2 1/2 hours during the lunch hour (no body cared about its a lunch hour). They were not at all organized in the sense that they changed the interviewers at the last minute and they were not on the schedule. Also, there is a lot of disconnect between the HR and the dept. When I called the secretary the other day regarding the status, she never picks up my phone (This happened to me even before the onsite interview). Overall its a wierd experience. |

Don't give up. After a year of applying to jobs out at Raytheon, they finally called me this week to come in for an interview. |

Worked for Raytheon in Las Vegas for 6 years, 'til another gov't contractor took over. Recently applied on line to a posting. Description fit my qualifications perfectly (+ Raytheon was listed on my resume). Received an automatic "do not meet qualifications" e-mail within about 10 minutes! Makes ya think if any humans really look at these things. (PS: Hiya, Diamond Bar! Lived there for about 3 years; grew up in West Covina!). |

How was your interview? How did they treat you? Did they follow up in a timely manner? How professional were they? |

Parker Hannifin in Cleveland/Elyria is the same way. But they beat your automatic rejection by about 8 minutes, lol! I no sooner applied online, and about 2 minutes later I had a rejection email. |

Our technology has enabled too many slacking and unmotivated workers "work the technology in such a manner as to hide behind it and dodge us job hunters. I've tried to get an interview at Raytheon and BAE so many times it is not funny so I quit wasting my time with them. Now, I wonder why us Americans can not get jobs. Not just with Raytheon or BAE, but all of industry. Perhaps the reason why us Americans can't get hired is because the goal is to bring in as many foreigners as possible. To bring in such massive numbers, in such a way, as to promote and propel terrorism on our soil. What better way for us to become a policed state, which is really the goal of the rich elite of the world. Radical? Maybe so. Realistic? Maybe not. Time will tell, huh? |

Interviewed at RMS in Tucson. Make one mistake -Forget to shake someones hand in a group setting (ie not sticking hand out first, or fast enough), or do/say anything that can be perceived in a negative way, you will be crossed off the list. Highly critical. |

I'm trying to get into Raytheon as an Admin. Asst. I've sent numerous online applications. I don't know anyone who works there. I'm middle age but I have tons of experience and would be a great asset. Does anyone know anyone who knows anyone in Andover, Tewksbury, Burlington, Billerica plants? |

What are the chances of getting a call for a second interview in a different business. First interviewed at Tuscon, but didn't get the job. Thanks. |

Raytheon is extremely difficult to get into. I was told by someone who actually got in that when you submit your resume online through their website it is scanned for key words so make sure your resume has key words pertaining to the postion you're seeking. Good Luck! |
