i worked at rent a center briefly. if you apply online at rent-a-center.com they are very quick to respond, usually in a few days. it is a fantastic entry level opportunity. the pay is not great for account managers, however, if you move into management you are looking at about 40 k per year plus benefits. it is competetive once you get to that point. of all the online apps i filled out RAC was the fastest to respond.

There is no clear cut way to get hired on at Rent a Center. I am a 7 year military veteran with excellent credentials and they yet to have called me, and not only that I have called them and they dont even return my calls....sounds like a crappy company to me...they would rather hire people that dont want to work than to hire a veteran.

i applied for a job they called me for an interview i went in everything went great asked me to come back in 2 hours to do the computer test and when i did the computers where down so they said to come back tommarow so i did again they where still down so i waited all day went in again still down no big deal i said i would wait called back the next day because i was sick of wasting gas and they said they filled the postion interally how messed up is that i really need a job and they let me down and its not that i was not go enough eather. thanks rent-a-center cory ellis

the environment is horrible, the headquarters treat employees like crap, and you multitask.... everyone stepping on toes and wrongfull possitions are obtained in the management areas.....

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

Try not to have more practical experience than the hiring manager. Don't write a resume highlighting your accomplishments as it may be too intimidating. And for God's Sake, don't be too old.
