The company was bought out and the pay and benefits really stink! They tell you anything you want to hear to get you to join their company. Then you become a glorified bill collector. The benefits are the worst! They are self- insured! Plus, you pay alot each month into the insurance! Most of the sales force does not make any money! People can not afford to feed their families. They have a charge back mentality. If an account closes they take the money back from you! Even if you didn't sign the account in the first place. If its in your territory you will be charged. You are even charged if an account fails to pay their bill! There is no way to make any money! Run for the hills! |

I don't understand why they make all applicants take a 2-hour test on subject matter totally unrelated to training before they even interview. My 20-year career in professional training and development doesn't mean anything to these guys unless I can pass their silly test. Sorry, no time for that. |

Stay away from this company, I worked there for 5 yrs until a buyout laid off everyone making any money or gave them a 20% paycut, I do not see this company lasting long with current ownership. |

Everyone that has responded to my previous post has had nothing but negative things to say about them. I had a brief phone interview and told them I wasn't interested. They said they couldn't tell me where I would be located until after my training. It felt like I was going to be going to Army bootcamp and on the last day I would be told where I would be sent off to war. I also go the feeling the pay was not great. |

I went and took the test a few weeks ago, after having my so called brief interview on the phone mainly asking questions ie: making sure I was a non-smoker, and that it's company policy(I found that very odd, I'm a non-smoker but okay). I was Leary about the company when the Recruiting Representative mentioned I was being looked at for several Professional positions. That had nothing to do with what I applied for. The test was a waste of my time, I was not selected for an interview, there was about eight people taking the test in the room with me, that alone made me wonder what kind of company is this? No loss on my part. |

I love this company. I found the assessments to be a great benifit. I was able to see that the company was looking for people that wanted more than just a job. Reynolds has been very good to me. The recruiting process was fast and efficient. I highly recomend them to anyone who is truly wanting a professional environment with a lot of opportunity for their future. |

Isn't this this the city where Rey & Rey trains new employees? This response sounds very cannned and scripted...real people do not speak this way. Is this response from the company itsself to make not look so bad? ...Sad |

BEWARE! Do not waste your time applying to the "new" Reynolds unless you are a 21 year old recent college graduate willing to work a lot of hours for no money...oh and you are a male! All Bob B wants is a bunch of young and cheap stoodges that he can brainwash and control!!! |

I worked for this company for many years and finally got laid off! The company is a mess! Most of the people working in Ohio were laid off! The huge building is a ghost town and there is no room for movement. It is common knowledge that you need to be one of the "good old boys" to go anywhere in the company, so that leaves out all minorities. The company is involved in a huge lawsuit that could eventually make a difference in how the company works. I personally feel bad for all the salesman that work for the company. They never get raises, and the company is always looking for ways to take money back from you! As the last person stated "All Bob B. wants is a bunch of young and cheap stooges that he can brainwash and control," that is the truth. Avoid this company at all costs.

My phone interview promptly ended when I refused to quit using tobacco products on my own time and in my own home. Eggplant has nicotine, may I not eat that too? $32K for a job that allows you to be home only every other weekend, that is rough.. |

I never got past the phone interview. Once they told me that I would have to spend months training in Dayton, OH away from my family...I was out. On top of that, that said they couldn't tell me what city and state I would be working until the training was over! After reading all the negative comments on here, I am glad I didn't waste my time. |

I am getting ready to take the in house assessment and possibly interview with them in Dayton. Could anyone tell me what kind of salary a buyer makes at this company and what to expect on this test? |
|
x-reyrey employee in Dayton, Ohio 57 months ago |
The test contains a portion on vocabulary, a bit of history, letter patterns, number patterns, image series, and an annoying set of 5th grade algebra problems. It takes about 3 hours to take it. There is a personality section - pic the words that describe you etc. The directions given to employees at Reynolds who had to take it after the takeover was to practice using section 3 of the air traffic controllers exam. Think about that, Reynolds produces software to sell cars, not fly people around. The test is mandatory for hire, but no one ever got to see their results. If you do not pass whatever the criteria is, you will never be told, you will just be passed over. Salaries will be entry level. If you are in Springfield, look into QBase, a new company hiring about 60 people in your city. Don't touch Reynolds - it is run like a 1950's compound and is not a worthwhile experience. Trust me, I am not a jaded x-employee, I left because I like a better quality of work experience and I have that now. |

You should have listened to the previous posters. Do you really think all these people are lying about this crappy company? The only thing this company is going to do is aggravate the rest of their employees and like many others they too will wind up leaving. People here are not posting because they are bitter, they are posting to warn the rest of society about their terrible working environment. If anyone doesn't believe the people who have left postings then they should go to the nearest automotive dealership, that uses Reynolds and Reynolds, and ask them what they think of the company! |

recruited for CTP in Detroit, Michigan 56 months ago |
I read through this forum before taking the online assessment a few days ago. All I can say is wow, everyone is right on. The test took me around 2 hours and I was surprised at some of the components on it. (yes I know Berlin was the city with a wall dividing it for 28 years and "plane is to train" as "pilot is to conductor") The drug and theft survey at the end was the best though. The directions stated to fill in answers on a 1-9 agree/disagree scale from the viewpoint of a very conservative employer. e.g. An employee who steals $5 worth of materials a year is a thief, under no circumstances should the rules be changed for anyone, I consider someone who smokes marijuana once a week to be addicted.. and so on. After that there are a series of yes/no questions: I have stolen something small from my employer (pen/pencil?), I have stolen something large from my employer, I have stolen from the government (does an orange barrel count :P), I have a friend who has stolen, etc. If I take a pen from my job, does that mean I'm a thief?? I think R&R would consider that means for termination judging by this survey. This entire process reflects quite negatively on the company. I can see why they are so anxious to recruit new college grads (Is there anyone left who still wants to work there?!). I was emailed with the job description and 5 days after speaking with someone at a career fair. I sent a reply and the process continued. I don't think I would want to work for a company that is so judgemental. As long as the work is done and done well, who cares if you have a friend who steals or you don't know "Three times the square of a certain positive number exceeds six times the number by nine. What is the number?" |

I applied and got some email from some Assistant recruiter bwitch who said she wanted to interview me. I was given a number to call anytime, which seemed bizarre, but anyways I called and spoke with her. She asked me if I had any questions, to which I had a few but the job ad " System Consultant" was obvious. She proceded to read off some panned questions and then said that concludes the interview. This took all but 2 minutes. I was like whatever!! Anyways, some of the questions were pertaining to school and if I intend to continue my education. In a backwards way they wanted to know my age, by asking me "How many years experience have you worked since graduating College?" I was like, you dumb bwitch that is an illegal question. I was laughing after I got the email that said I was not getting a job offer. I am like whatever....I was never planning on accepting the job.

Host said: What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Reynolds & Reynolds? The answer to your questions are simple .....salaries below market, travel expenses are on your nickel until they can figure out your expense reimbursements, bonuses...???, benefits competitive, special treats.....let's see...Cornhole league,(hopefully you are not from the South), mandatory events (goes against your performance reviews), patio parties that provide beer and wine and minimal snacks. It's OK to drink but not smoke! The best part of working at R&R was my last day when I knew I didn't have to be in the oppressive environment that only rewarded those who conformed not those who might have original thoughts and ideas. If you are female.....forget it. It you are busty....really forget it..If you are overweight...forget it and if you have more than 2 years experience in the business world....well hopefully you get the message. Check out ADP |

I have had the same experience as the posters above. Took the online tests, then was called and asked strange questions, and finally went in to take the in-house (algebra) testing. The whole process was very strange. And it took forever. We were told to arrive at 1PM. When I got there (10 minutes early), I was surrounded by children. Seriously, the kids they were interviewing might have still been in college. I felt VERY OLD and I'm not that old by any stretch of the imagination. In any case, they didn't let us start the test until after 2PM. Then when I finished the test (an hour later) I was told I had to "wait to see if the test results were logged in the system correctly". Ummm...aren't they a Software company??? Shouldn't their system be robust? In any case, I was finally told about 3:45PM that I could go. A couple of days later, I got an email saying that they were not interested. A week after the whole interviewing process, I met a former HR employee of R&R and he told me that effective Nov 1st, only employees could get health benefits (not their spouses or kids). I don't know how true that is, but if that is true, then it would not work for me. |

The people seemed pleasant, though, which was a surprise considering all the negative comments about the company. |

As a recent graduate living in Dayton, OH, I was pretty psyched when I got a call from Rey Rey. Found the stupid 4 hr test annoying, but did it anyway since the whole online assessment thing seems to be catching on with companies. I've gone through the first phone interview, long form application and now have a second phone interview with them next week. My questions: Is anyone here familiar with their customer training professional positions? What is involved? What kind of pay is to be expected? I got the impression it's not a sales position or one based on commission from talking to the recruiter, but then, I had no idea the company would be anything like what people are posting on this forum. The recruiter mentioned there would be a couple months training in Dayton. Exactly what kind of training is it? Will it be paid training? He also mentioned the position involved a lot of traveling, something I'm very interested in. Now based on the comments here, I'm starting to wonder how the company manages traveling reimbursements. Oh yeah, how do they treat their female employees? The posts I've seen about this sound very negative. I'm getting pretty desperate for any source of income, so information about these guys would be much appreciated. Thank you all in advance! |

Bump. Anyone? I'm half sold on Rey Rey based on the job description, but factors such as company culture, CTP experience specifically, all from the viewpoint of someone that's not a recruiter, would definitely sway my decision. |

shay318 in Dayton, Ohio said: That test is a waste of time and alot of people cannot pass it that really deserve a job! I hope this company closes down. Silly tests and all lol They had all their employees take this test and they're looking for people whose answers coincide with those of their best employees. If you can't pass the stupid test, it means you don't have what it takes to excel in their company. It's that simple. It benefits you because you won't take a job where you will be unhappy a few months down the road. It obviously benefits Reynolds and Reynolds because they won't have to waste money replacing you when you quit in a few months. I got interviewed despite the fact that I didn't complete the last math section. I was already frustrated going into the final section (took all 4 hrs of the test at the same time), got 3 pages into it and walked away with probably 15 minutes left. I know my verbal, reasoning and general math are far above average, but they are looking at the entire picture and will use your answers to determine where you fit best within the company. You don't get a call if they can't find a fit. |

I was one of those recent college grads who thought R&R would be a great place to work. I was working P/T before I started at R&R, so when they told me I would be making $28K I thought that would be great! Well, I was wrong! I think the old company culture made R&R a great place to work, but since "Big Bobby B" bought the company it has taken a huge nose dive. "Big Bobby B" likes to do everything "in-house", he doesn't like any 3rd party contractors. You must follow all the rules & guidelines! Don't deviate from their way of thinking. I began working there in Jan 07. After I had been there for 2 months I was offered a new position & I was very excited. FYI...when you move positions you won't get a raise. I got the new position & quickly became acclimated. I became a back-up for 5 out of the 10 members of my team. STILL no raise!! I began to get very frustrated. Along came Oct 07 & I had my 6 mo. review. All was well, I received a "satisfactory" review (no one gets excellent) & $600 raise. I thought that maybe things would be turning around; definitely not the case. Not even 3 wks after my review everything seemed to come crashing down around me. I had 3 verbal discussions w/my supervisor; she said I wasn't pulling my own weight & some people above her thought I socialized too much. Almost all my work depended on the flow of candidates. I couldn't control them amount of work I had. As for me socializing too much, totally not true! I stayed in my cube like a hermit. By late Nov I had had enough & began sending out resumes. I got a call back from one of them & scheduled an interview on a Tuesday @9 AM. Needless to say I didn't get to work until late. Then @4:30 I was called into the office & received my"Final Written Warning"; which was weird since I had never received any written warnings. I was told if said anything about my written warning that I would be terminated immediately.Needless to say I turned in my 2 wks notice that Fri. I am not happily employed elsewhere |

I too went through the entire rigamroll....when they called and set me up for the interview I was told that the test would take about two hours; to dress professionally as I would be interviewed afterwards. I was in tailored black business suit, you know the drill. Well took the test, simple, then sat in the reception area for twenty minutes when these two young kids came and sat down. The young woman was dressed like she was going to a club, the young man had on wrinkled slacks, white shirt NO TIE. Who do you think they called for interviews? You got it! the hooker and the slob - guess it really does pay to be young! |

I have heard nothing but good things about Reynolds until I read all of this. I understand the process is cruel and unjust and maybe I will be joining you on this "smash board" if I don't get hired. For now, I am scheduled to take the "proctored test" does anyone know anything about this test? They aren't making me drive to Ohio for it...they are doing it locally somehow. Is it really as bad as the web tests? I will be honest...I am very excited, but at the same time nervous..finding this board made me even more nervous. Does anyone know about this proctored test? Thanks DS |

The test is retarded, to put it mildly. It is designed to see if you are a submissive done that doesn't smoke or steal. ie: " If you borrow a hammer from a friend and forget to give it back, is your action considered stealing?" (hint: don’t check off no) Please don’t be bothered with this company and take the advice of all of these people. Every comment that is negative is accurate and is intended to help you make an informed decision. |

DS, I was in your shoes very recently.. reading all these "negative posts" with a skeptical eye.. excited about the interview process.. hoping for an offer. (which I DID receive by the way.. ) substantially less than what I was originally told in the interview, and far less than my "minimum amount to maintain my current standard of living"... I could not accept the low paying offer I was given. They did not want to discuss a counter offer. Unfortunately it did not work out and I am pursuing another job that has offered me over $25,000 more in salary for doing the same basic job. I took the test very recently... it was challenging, especially the math word problems, and you are not designed to finish it, just take your time and do your best and you will do fine. I took the test with about 12 other people. Everyone was joking about how difficult it was and had the deeer in the headlights look. If you have somewhat of a brain you will do above average and pass this test. There are pattern recognition problems / spatial problems and math problems. There is also a personality test which any moron will know what the "right" answer is.. just think corporate BS and never admit that you even had one drag of a cigarette or anything else for that matter and you will be fine.I have found the comments on this insider reynolds blog most depressing and enlightening. See for yourself:

Leave Monday morning, stay in a hotel for 4 nights and fly home Friday. You will be staying at Motels like Best Western, not hotels like Hilton. Do this 40 weeks a year for 30k a year and lets see how long you like to travel. You do get paid during training and as a trainer you will be trained on the software you will be training on. DUH |
