I was laid off by Monster.com a year ago. They are a job search company, and they hire temporary workers. Then, when they are having financial problems, they start having massive layoffs almost seasonally. They hire about 20-40 temporary employees every other month, and then every few months let people go based on "performance". But usually you notice there are certain times of year, they start really paying attention to every little detail of every little thing you do. They also outsourced their 3rd-shift calls to route to India. I received so many complaints from customers who could not understand the Indian customer service representatives, and to be honest, I couldn't either. The Indian CSR's were trained to read from a script saying "I do apologize for that inconvenience" if they didn't understand something, or didn't know what to say. Only if a customer kept complaining that they want to talk to an American, were they finally routed to someone in America, but they had to really yell and scream. I pity people who use Monster. It's really hard. And maybe 5 people I started with 3 years ago, are still there (out of hundreds of employees). For a website that advertises that it's helping you find a better job, it should really take its own advice and be a better job for employees. |
