I'm talking with RH in a major market about filling the manager role over the salaried professionals division. I have experience in accounting & business both as a full-time accountant for various companies and filling temp jobs for recruiters. I understand the accounting jargon in the business setting and am able to relate to CFO's, Controllers, and Acctg Managers. Plus I have worked temp jobs through recruiters.

Is it true the compensation can be very good? I'm tired of staying till 7pm or 9pm and working thru lunch & the weekends in accounting roles.

I would like feedback from RH employees or former employees. Where can I go to help me determine base salary? What are the career options after working as an RH division manager for 5-7 years? I guess I can always fall back on my cpa?

This company is not professional at all. I have the experience and the years for all of these management positions but have been screwed over because I left a job they got for me because of illness.Like it was my fault I became sick.It is like I have been blackballed. Thinking about suing.

Go to a smaller, local company in your city to work if you are truly interested in doing something like this. Learn the business and then branch out and do it on your own. RH is a great place to learn the business, but you won't last more than a year because you will Absolutely HATE It. Good luck!

Dont do it. Thats all i have to say. I was with RHI at one time. it is completely sales driven and not for the best interest of the many very qualified candidates out there.

I worked for RHI and it only took me four months to realize what type of a company I was working for. I quickly found out that you are simply a number to them and if you fall off, even the slightest bit, in your numbers your are gone before you can blink. I had a friend in my office who was, month after month, a top producer her numbers started to dip a little and they told her that she had a month to pull those numbers up, three days later they fired her. I had another friend in my office and he wsa fired, not because of his numbers or anything, the District Manager simply said, "we let him go cause he didn't fit in". They are a real shady company, and I would not recommend doing business with them. As a cnadidate all you are to them is an hour they don't care about you at all. I'll be honest I posted fake jobs, lied to candidates and it took an attack of conscience to get me out, I just couldn't do it anymore. I have a great job now working as a financial analyst and have some great contacts in the industry. Good luck to all those looking for jobs, but stay away from RHI!

JBond-

I have been working for RH for 3+ years and currently hold a Management position over the Technology line of business. I find the company and position very rewarding and I can honestly say that this is the first job I've ever had where I don't mind getting up and going to work in the morning. Contrary to the statements above, I don't lie to candidates/clients, nor do I post fake jobs to lure candidates. Anybody who practices such unethical behavior will certainly not last long at RH. Of course, the job isn't for everyone, and you'll certainly hear negative feedback from those that weren't a good fit for the company model, but those who can prove their ability to build relationships with both clients and candidates will certainly find an extremely lucrative career in store.

I will give you some feedback. I joined Robert Half with the intentions of being a resource to the market. I have an extensive background in HR and thought this would be a benefit. Once I joined, my job completely changed into telemarketing - sales only. Companies couldnt afford the billrate presented and wouldnt hire any candidate. And this was when there was "actually" a job for the candidate. You spend all day on the phone cold calling to find placement for the 100's of very qualified candidates you bring in whom sit by the phone waiting for a call. And rarely ever do. I left the company because I did not feel good about what I was doing there. In the end, it wasn't about helping people find work. It was about how many hours you can accumulate with the candidates you can get working, and how much can you charge a client! I would suggest not even going there. I'm sure you have way more to offer.

I work for RHI currently and leaving soon. Cannot handle the terrible management team. I would suggest staying in the accounting industry and do not take a position with RHI. You still work long hours; everyday not just a few months out of the year. They are extremely sales driven and you will be cut within 6 months if you do not keep your numbers up. Do the right thing, stay in the accounting field.

I have been with RHI for 10 years in 3 different offices. I have an HR background and started in one of the temp divisions, moved into a management role and took a step back for personal reasons and have been with the perm group for the past 6 years. It has offered me a lot of flexibility (that I don't think I could find anywhere else with the compensation I make and the earning potential). It has been a good job market the past 3-4 years which have been financially rewarding and if you can keep producing Robert Half will sustain you through the down market (which you can't say of a small firm). As many negative things you see on these blurbs - I think the RHI name is priceless and gets you in the door with clients and candidates. Note that this is more of a sales business than internal recruitment or human resources, but you will get more clients and candidates if you can approach the business with a consultative approach.

How about the recruiter who came in at 7:00 am and didn't leave until well after 8 pm? He was fired. No company in their right mind would fire this man.

What about the single mom in her 40's who had a lucrative career as an HR professional before her mistake joining Robert Half as a recruiter? Yep...out the door.

Oh, and then there was that admin who had to catch a plane at moments notice due to a severe illness in her family. They give you like 900 vacation days. This poor girl took only three. I guess Robert Half doesn't understand FAMILY. She was let go too.

Then there was me. I came in to work on time, never called in sick, ate lunch at my desk, worked 10+ hours a day, drove all around the county visiting clients, exceeding my sales and recruting goals, and after a year of blood, sweat, and tears, I was showed the door by my manager who was probably about 21 years old. Why? I guess I just didn't fit in. Just like the casualties I mentioned above. Or maybe getting rid of me, would afford him the opportunity to make a nice little internal recruiting check replacing me. And I'm sure that right about now he is having fun cashing in his checks from business that I CREATED.

Robert Half only cares about production. None of these people I mentioned (100% true stories by the way) were druggies, drunks, problem employees, psychos, lazy, or stupid. They were normal folks just trying to earn an honest living. Trying to do what they were told in the best way they knew how. Then they were told that they either "didn't fit in" or that they were one whole hour below their monsterous goal.

I'm glad I "don't fit in." If fitting in Robert Half means working yourself into an early grave and being treated with utter disrespect then it's not the place for me, or anyone with half a brain who wants to build a nice long term career for themsleves. If you want to give it a shot, go for the training, then get your "too good for them" a$$ outta there.

The only people that make it there are the people that have been there for five plus years. In my office there are only a handful out of 25. If you ever want to be a recruiter don't start with this firm run far, far, away...It's a career stopper, not a career starter. If you're already in accounting stay there don't come over to the dark side...It's just a numbers game....and nothing more than a telemarketing position. Clients, candidates, CV's and company ins...oh and did I forget GET THOSE JOB ORDERS or ELSE JZ will get you.
