Does anyone knows what type of exam they give and what is the purpose for it? For example, one of the recruiter told me that I need to take an excel and accounting exam. After reading the postings on this board I am seriously thinking about canceling my appointment. Is there a valid purpose for this exam? What are they trying to test you on? Does it effect your placement chances? Thank you for your response. |

The exams depend on which platforms / applications, etc you have on your resume. For example if you say you are a C++ "expert" you will probably be tested on it! The advantage to the candidate is that it shows your TRUE ability beyond what it says on your resume. |

People come into RH offices and claim that they are strong in Excel. When asked on a scale of 1 to 10, how strong are you, many say 8 or 9. Then they are asked, can you build a Macro in Excel? No! Can you do Pivot Tables? No! Can you do H look ups and V look ups? No! So the majority of people that say they are 8 or 9 area really a 2 or e. The reason testing is done is to verify the level. If you state that you are good at Excel (when really all you can do is sums and basic math) and RH places you with a company that is say, looking for a Senior Financial Analyst with strong Excel skills, both the candidate and RH will look stupid if you can't do certain things. So candidates are sometimes tested on various things to figure out the true level of their skills, not the level you claim on your resume. Often times, basic accountants have more skills and knowledge than many CFO's. The whole point is to place you where you feel comfortable and where your skill level will fit. |

RHMR called me after a year. I went in and took the excel exam scored above 80+%. I agree you need the skills described above and they were not on the exam. Also the right click on the mouse did not work on the exam. RHMR calls me, gives me the opportunity and then asks a rate as a contractor. Then nothing happens. I know they are calling the stable fishing for the lowest rate. I will say RHMR seemed better than regular RH. However they are playing a game at times. Post your resume on monster. I got 109 hits and will be doing a gig with CDI. |

It is kind of pathetic to think she/he just looks on comments boards for a living, posting spin trying to counter any criticism. Sounds like a great job I when I get older I can only hope to do something as exciting. |
