I submitted my resume to a job in MA as an accounting manager. I followed up a few days later and was told that they already had my resume!! It was submitted by RHI. I had sent my resume to them for a job they had advertised and while they had nothing for me at that time they wanted me to come into their office to meet in person. A friend of mine who used to work there said to watch out !! They are required to bring in candidates to find out where they are interviewing and get leads. They also will send out your resume without your knowledge or permission. My friend is a CPA and said he left RHI after 4 months because they spent more time counting phone calls than helping candidates

That should never happen - they should not have presented your resumeme to a clien without their knowledge. It is possible that the employer misspoke.

Here are a few general questions ~ ~ ~ ~

Your job search should have three basic strategies. 1) Responding to ads 2) word of mouth networking and 3) using recruiters.

You should be working with 3 or 4 recruiters.

If you think of Robert Half or any other agency as your hired gun to get you a job you are setting yourself up for frustration. You don't pay them. If you are, in their estimation, a good fit for an opening that they are working, you'll get a call. It's in their best interest to do so, If you are a good fit. Only about 1 in 20 candidates that they see ever get placed by them. That's not unusual.

Do not expect them to go get you a job. That is not their job. Get that through your head.

Recruiters recruit. That is what they do. They interview you so 1) they can see and smell you. They want to know how you present yourself. This helps them present you to the kind of company where you will fit - If you are a fit on paper.

They ask where you've been for 2 reasons. 1-so they don't waste client's time presenting candidates that have already been presented and 2-to find out where they can go call to get a job order. Its not complicated.

They want references for 2 reasons 1- to do their due dilligence and 2-so they can market to those people (recruit and seek job orders).
