I was contacted by Robert Half Legal to come in for a legal secretary position in the Princeton area. Mind you, I have been applying for several jobs with Robert Half since leaving my last employment without a call for 5 months. I went in for the interview and I thought it went real well. I was contacted on the following week by my recruiter's partner advising me that I got the job and that I will be starting on April 12. I had another interview for a different position on April 8th of which I canceled because I had gotten the Princeton position. I went into work on April 12. The people at the firm were major jerks and ignored me. At the end of the day, I had said to the office manager to have a good night and that I will see her in the morning. She told me that I wasn't coming in the next day. I asked her why and she said that today is a "working interview". I told her that I knew nothing about that. She explained what a "working interview" is. I told her that my recruiter didn't tell me that and that I was told I got the job. The office manager told me I didn't and that I was still in the interview process. After I got home, I tried calling the recruiter but the office was already closed. So, I e-mailed her. I told the recruiter in the e-mail what happened and that I would like her to contact me to discuss this issue. She never e-mailed me. The next day I contacted Robert Half but was put through my recruiter's assistant. He advised me that he spoke with the law firm and they said that I "lacked a personality". He didn't elaborate. I told the assistant that he didn't tell me that it was a "working interview" and he said that he did tell me. We went back and forth but he still insisted he told me. That was wasting my time so I said goodbye and ended the call. After this mishap I don't want to ever deal with Robert Half again and I will not refer anyone to them. I still haven't received a response to my e-mail from my recruiter. |
