Was contacted today by someone from their DC office about a 'great' job. I told him I might be interested but wasn't going to be 'fooled twice', i.e. I was not going to fall for coming into their office again, thus giving the recruiter what RHMR terms a "connect" (which they are goaled on). As soon as I said that, he wanted to put the 'account manager' on the line. The account manager said that their new policy was to check references before a resume goes to any client. I said that I was not going to have them bother my references, unless a mutual interest was established between the client and me. He said they couldn't take my 'candidacy' further.
All these two were doing was trolling for references so they could call and try and get new business from them!!!

I am meeting with a recruiter on Monday, not RH, and will not be giving her my references either without a mutual interest as you mentioned. I do have an interview for a position I want and found on my own on Tuesday and I will not have too many people calling my former supervisors and co workers.

Will post if the new recruiters office seems real.
