I signed up for a Robert Half Technology account a little over two years ago. I uploaded my resume and created my profile. I never did hear from anyone from Robert Half until 6 months later, when I was already employed. I remained employed with a great company, got my network certifications on my own (CCENT/CCNA), and then chose to move my career forward by finding a level II or network position. I recently came back into the job market again. Without doing anything this time, I was contacted by an RHT rep at the perfect time. She said she had an open opportunity which I may be interested in. I updated my information on the website again (not much change required) and then went to an RHT office for an in-person interview. Upon arriving, I filled out the paperwork (application, salary history and desires, personal info, etc.), did the interview, then took some skill assessment tests. I scored way above average on one test, slightly above average on another test, and average on the third test. After looking over the results with my RHT rep, she said unfortunately the position which I came in for became filled and that positions get filled so quickly with a rapid amount of change. I thanked her for her time and departed. Two months later I accepted a contract with another agency and am currently still working a short term contract. Between the interim, I was contacted once by the same rep via e-mail to see how things were going, but with no opportunities for me. Yesterday, a post for a job of which I fully qualified for (and above) and which was located less than 10 miles from my home appeared on the RHT website. I applied for it immediately on the day of the post and also e-mailed the RHT rep about it. She responded, "Sorry, we already filled the position, but I'll keep you in mind for other opportunities." Two months, no opportunities presented, flawless job record, BS of Science in IT & two certs, and no jobs. I will not speak to RHT again |

Needless to say, I responded professionally to the rep and asked her how I could make myself more marketable for jobs which I clearly qualify for. I also told her that if RHT believes that I am non-marketable then they may remove my information from their database so that I may focus my time and energy on more prospective employers. I would not advise interviewing or communicating with ANY Robert Half Technology representatives. |

If you're such a perfect candidate then why did it take you two months to find a position, and a "short term contract" at that? Sounds like you got desperate and took the only thing available which would then lead me to believe that you're not as flawless as you think. Staffing companies don't have magic wands. You have to be the cream of the crop for a staffing company to charge what they do to their clients for you. They aren't an unemployment agency, or the state. They are a FOR PROFIT organization and you obviously aren't the best product on the shelf. Secondly, if RHT filled both positions that quickly then they either have more qualified, better candidates or they just told you it was filled because they lost it to a competitor. Either way, next time take a harder look in the mirror before you blame a staffing agency for not finding you a job. |

Ok, to the ignorant schmuck who just posted. I did NOT blame Robert Half for my job situation. Where did I blame them? Point it out to me a-hole!! I described my experience with Robert Half as to what it exactly was. I'm far from desperate. It sounds to me like you prance from forum board to board around Robert Half trolling at how qualified YOU think candidates are. Since when did YOU decide how qualified a candidate is? What kind of certs do you have? What do you do for a living that makes you GOD? You know, I find it rather funny that everyone I work with in IT has the same opinion of Robert Half. And if you look around on the boards, you'll see a large statistic of Robert Half experiences are negative. Here's a project for you, Mr. Smart Mouth: Link me several positive experience forum threads from Robert Half. Exactly where do you work at? I'd really like to know because I sure wouldn't want to work where you do!!! If you even do work!! You're about as dumb as a rock, and very ignorant to even come in on this thread judging how qualified one is without even looking at a resume. As for the contract position, I'm 'still' doing it!! What does that tell you? And it may even go permanent. And two months is a great turn around for lining up another position and going through all of the motions (background check, etc.) in the current state of the economy. I guess I must be "the cream of the crop." And oh, how'd I love to punch you in the face for being such an ignorant fool and to think you have the right to tell someone they are not the best qualified for a position in which you have no idea of what the job requirements/duties are as compared to what is on my resume. Do yourself a favor and throw yourself off a cliff for all of us. The world would be slightly better afterwards. Oh, and don't forget about my project I gave you either. If you can't complete it, don't even bother responding. |

Oh, and Ex-Halfer, find something better to do with your time other than troll and rant and rave about how "not-qualified" someone is for the position which you still have no idea about. With a sn like yours, you're obviously looking for nothing but trouble which brings me to the assumption that your shoe size is greater than your IQ. What a terrible waste of life..... but they do say stupid people breed. I'll be waiting patiently on those URL's about those ever so positive experiences with Robert Half. |
