Do you work at Ross Stores? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

I'm sure the stores are different. If you want to work at their corporate offices, be prepared to wait. It's a long process and Ross is not good about communicating with potential candidates through the interview process.

To get an interview with Ross at the store level, you will first need to apply in person at your local Ross store. Do not settle for asking for an application at the service desk, your application will then be thrown in a drawer with hundreds of other applications. Instead, ask for the manager on duty to be paged, introduce yourself, speak and dress professionally, do not ask if they "are accepting applications" because they are always accepting applications (it's company policy), do ask what positions are open, what the manager is looking for in a candidate for that position, and sell yourself.

Do not take the application home and bring it in later, instead be prepared to complete the application (including references) there at the store to improve your chances of getting the job. Have the manager on duty paged again when you have completed the application, and ask about any further requirements or screening for the position. Hopefully you will then be asked to the back to complete the ORION questionnaire (personality test), and Esteem background check prior to being interviewed. If the manager is not willing to take those steps while you are there, then politely than them and call back frequently (once per week) until you get an interview.

I agree. Ross interviewed me 5 times for a position (2 phone interviews and 3 in-person). Each time, there was a 2 week period between each interview. I think they wanted to offer me the job as they kept calling after the last interview. I lost interest in the company and landed another job with a Fortune 100 company.
